Clear photo of Motorola Droid/Sholes exists!
Yes, Virginia, a clear picture of a Verizon-branded Motorola Droid/Sholes does exist! The picture was given to BGR and from there it was sent via Twitpic for the rest of the world to see. While a picture might be worth a thousand words, in this case-with all due respect to a nice photo-we'd rather have the words so that we could find out things like launch date and pricing. You can see clearly now (the rain is gone), so it is decision time for Verizon customers-BlackBerry Storm2 or Motorola Droid/Sholes?

I have a Blackberry now and I'll choose the Motorola over the Storm 2. If for nothing else, just to give Adroid a boost. Then I'll alternate between a Blackberry, Windows mobile and Android phone every year (just like those who say always vote against the incumbant in politics). A little competition is always a good thing.

I had thought about getting the Storm 2, I really want to get into the smartphone world. Now that Android is coming to Verizon, I am holding off and will get the Droid or the HTC "Hero" for VZW, or what ever they will call it.

Wow, at this rate of information leakage, we should see full blown Verizon marketing materials on this phone in, what, 6-7 months? ...with a release shortly thereafter.

That's a pretty intense deadline.

How thin is this supposed to be?

5. rockstar323 posted on 15 Oct 2009, 12:50

pretty much the same thickness as the storm

NOTICE THAT IN THE PICTURE THAT THE FIRMWARE SAYS 2.0. THAT'S ANDROID 2.0 FOR YOU ALL. THIS IS TRULY GOING TO BE AN AMAZING DEVICE.

What about the omnia II any word on that?

8. VZWemployee89 posted on 15 Oct 2009, 13:26

as means of a release date? no, not yet. i would probably say that phone is going to fall right around the Black Friday timeframe.

I noticed that firmware 2.0 in the screenshot as well, apparently the Droid will release with Android Eclair, which makes sense since there are rumors it's due to release any day now, especially now that the Eclair lawn ornament has been delivered to the GooglePlex: http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/10/14/google-unwraps-androids-giant-eclair/

yeah it's pretty exciting stuff. being an employee of verizon wireless and playing with each of these phones around the office here, i'm having a VERY hard time deciding between the Droid and the Storm2.

@vzwemployee89 thanks man haven't heard from a vzw insider in a minute. If you ever hear something about the omnia II let us know please...I am so pissed because vzw barely share information about the omnia II, but they are quick to brag about a bb or android device. No offense to the android lovers but the omnia II bets it spec wise hands down( android is nice to by being more customizable and user friendly)

I have played with all 3 devices (Storm2, Omnia2, and Droid), I currently have a storm and really love Blackberry. Im going to say one thing..it's going to be a very hard decision for me to make. All 3 of the units I mentioned are top notch, and a cut above any and all units currently sold by VZW.

i still think that the Hero will be the best phone Verizon has had in a long time, maybe there Iphone

11. C_H posted on 15 Oct 2009, 14:56

I think the Droid's bigger screen (480 x 854 pixels compared to Hero's 320 x 480 pixels) will make a big difference when browsing the web, so even if you don't care about keyboard vs touchscreen-only, that huge display could make a big difference when using the "smart" features of the phone

cant wait to peep the demo when it comes to my store!!! for the most part the bb has been very good to me for what i need but the androids' customization makes it very very tempting having limited time with it on the g1 which isnt saying much hardware wise but the os seemed promising
