Clash of the titans: iOS 7 vs Android 4.3 comparison

0. phoneArena 19 Sep 2013, 15:31 posted on

One of the most heated "debates" within the wireless industry is the one between iOS and Android fans. In case it isn't obvious, we've put "debate" in quotes, because it's much more of a flame war, rather than a civilized debate, but anyway, you get the point. So here we are, not trying to start yet another flame war, but wanting to make it easy for users to find out what the meaningful differences between iOS 7 and Android 4.3 are. And without further ado, let's dive straight into it...

Do people actually have an SMS limit anymore?
I'd rather my text messages go through that than eat up data, that is if I wasn't on an unlimited data plan.

My Nexus 10's home screen looks absolutely gorgeous IMO, brought to life with widgets, a live wallpaper, and a custom transition courtesy of Apex Launcher. My good friend refers to Android as "scattered," that might be so but I'll never find myself admiring a static iOS home screen the way I do with Android.

"Elegant" isn't the first word that pops into my head when looking at iOS...

apple is trying to copy android in everything strating from the new lock screen, toggles, live wallpaper, multi tasking and notifications center ,,, google maps is far far better than apple maps and google NOW has the upper hand over siri
so what "comparison" that you are talking about ???? Android is the knig of customization
so please " iPhonearena" admit that Andorid is better than ios .....
apple is losing the market so they are trying hard to Android the ios even the new iPhone 5c is trying to compete with android's mini but 5c is a big fail !!!!!

Android 4.3 >>>> ios7 ... no comparison needed

I would prefer ios7 out of the two. However the ultimate choice will be windows, its only going to get better :)

Every android runs iOS as well. It's called an app drawer.

PhoneArena - You DO know you can pull down the notification tray from anywhere in Android as well. Even while playing a game, or watching YouTube, etc... You might want to fix that one BIG error.

I don't like all the white backgrounds used in ios.
Like in dialer app and such, hopefully that can be end user changed easy enough.

Doubt that, after all it's IOS. It's difficult to do it even in Android, short of replacing the whole framework.

Biggest thing iOS needs is some type of app drawer. Having your apps displayed across multiple pages isn't efficient and can get cluttered if you have a lot of apps. Folders only get you so far.

Lol, this review says Android 4.3 lacks the "elegance" that iOS 7 has. What the hell does that even mean? Do they just like throwing around random buzz words for the sake of it? There's nothing elegant about the 7 year dated skin, that still hasn't changed, besides incorporating cheap looking pastel icons and aero-like effects; the latter which was already apart of Android.

That word made me laugh as well. I guess that's the word people used when they ran out of good things to say about ios7. Just throw in the word 'elegance' and voila! it's a better OS!

Also, this comparison is more like one man's opinion rather than factual comparison.

lol, yeah, the word 'elegant' is funny imo, android can easily change its appearance into iphone, winphone,or even ubuntu! ubuntu has a really good ui,iphone? meh....

I'm wondering whether the writer (Nick T) has ever really used Nexus 4 before doing this comparison?

"Furthermore, we must mention that iOS 7 has apps for Notes and Reminders out of the box, while on stock Android 4.3, these have to be downloaded separately."

Have you ever heard of Google Keep? It's easily one of the most useful Google apps and I use it daily. It comes with the frickin OS for God's sake!

I don't care if you said ios7 is better in certain things (it's your opinion), but at least get your factual comparison right.

IOS 7 feels so much like MIUI that it's not even funny. Xiaomi should sue Apple.

I feel I should point out that although the android status bar is often hidden in full screen app's, usually you can show it and open the notifications by double-swiping from the top.

This lets you get access to both notiications and the toggles.

i have an iphone 4 & a nexus 4 & after updating both phones with the latest software i preferred the android to IOS for the simple fact of control that i have over my platform, the more advanced business features, communication tools provided (Bluetooth...) & customization.
IOS 7 looks nice and has it advantages but it is a bit girly and will appeal to female consumers more.
