Cingular and MobiTV launched MobiRadio service

Cingular Wireless and MobiTV, Inc. have launched MobiRadio – the first radio service in the United States to offer  Cingular subscribers more than 40 channels of high quality digital music streamed directly to their mobile phones. The interruption-free audio music channels, which are regularly updated, feature a wide variety of popular music genres, including Urban, Rock, and Country, in addition to Electronica, Reggae, Jazz, and Classical. MobiRadio on Cingular also displays album art, song and artist information during playback. The new service is currently available only on the Nokia 6620, Sony Ericsson S710 and Z500a at the cost of $6.99 a month plus kilobyte usage, but it is expected that it will be soon available on additional handsets as well. Cingular and MobiTV hope to expand the services offered through MobiRadio by integrating the ability to instantly purchase related ringtones and other associated content, while listening to the music.
