Cingular and Fandango partner to offer mobile movie ticketing service

Cingular Wireless, the US largest carrier and Fandango, the the online movie-ticket seller have partnered in order to provide mobile movie information and ticketing service. Cingular customers will be able to purchase movie tickets; to view movie information, including film reviews; to get showtimes, theater information, directions and maps as well as to get alerts whenever tickets for an upcoming movie are available just by using their Web-enabled mobile phones. Customers will also be able to get access to Fandango movie show times and ticketing through the carrier's  Voice Info Service by dialing *V on their handsets. In addition, by sending a text message with a zipcode to "FNDGO" (36346), users will obtain show times and ticket availability for nearby theaters. There are also plans for a scannable bar-coded tickets as well as movie-related wallpapers, ring tones and games, which customers could get on their cellular phones.
