Chat Heads for iOS get the freedom of Android with jailbreak

Chat Heads for iOS get the freedom of Android with jailbreak
Facebook's new Chat Heads feature made its way into the iOS version of Facebook yesterday, but it was severely gimped compared to the Android version because of the limitations of the iOS system. Of course, limitations are nothing more than a challenge to the right developer, and so Adam Bell has created a jailbreak tweak that allows Chat Heads to be more like its Android counterpart.

Apparently, it wasn't all that difficult either, because Chat Heads works as a layer on top of the main Facebook app in iOS. So once Bell was able to isolate that layer, he simply made the rest of the Facebook app invisible. This means that the Facebook app is actually always running, but the effect makes it so Chat Heads float on top of any app, just like Android.

Bell says that even though Facebook is running all the time, it doesn't take a toll on battery life. And, it works just like Android meaning you can move the Chat Heads around, fling them away or whatever you'd like. He hasn't been able to integrate messaging yet, but he says it is possible. His tweak isn't in the Cydia store yet, but it should be within the next couple days. He'll also be putting the code up on his GitHub soon.
