Tax policy experts from KSE Partners have spent five years collecting data about federal, state and local taxes in your cell phone bill. On average north of 16% of your bill goes to taxes and fees, compared to 7.4% for other goods for taxation...

In the middle 30 just like Georgia and Alabama.
I cringed when I saw Nebraska's percentage. Why is it so high?!?

Part of me hopes that Nebraska's number is a typo. How is that legal if it is true? Being from IL, I am only shocked we are not higher- hope I State Government doesn't see this list- top 5 in tax rates won't be good enough for them. Grew up in Fort Myers FL- surprised to see them so high. Connecticut and Delaware towards the bottom also surprise me- good for them. Oregon at 6.86% while Washington is at 23% ? Look south, oh great north-westerners....

It is typo... If it were to be that high it wouldn't surprise me.

1. Nebraska: 23.69%
2. Washington: 23%
3. New York: 22.83%
4. Florida: 21.62%
5. Illinois: 20.90%
6 Rhode Island: 19.67%
7 Missouri: 19.28%
8 Pennsylvania: 19.13%
9 Kansas: 18.39%
10 Texas: 17.48%
