Canadian carrier Rogers could be the first globally to offer Nokia Lumia 920, at some stores today
There was a time, not too long ago, when a Canadian carrier would be among the last to receive a hot new phone to sell to customers. But these days, some models actually make their global debut up north. Take the Nokia Lumia 920 for example. According to some late word from Rogers, the Canadian carrier will have the Windows Phone 8 device in some stores as soon as...today. Other locations will be receiving stock of the phone on Wednesday. At launch, it will be available in Henry Ford's favorite color (black) priced at a reasonable $99.99 with a signed three year contract, which is traditional in the country. Off contract, the Nokia Lumia 920 will cost $549.99.

Rogers’ Chief Marketing Office, John Boynton, was the one who said that the carrier could be the first on the planet to sell you the phone. Right now, the Nokia Lumia 920 is a Rogers exclusive in Canada just as it is an AT&T exclusive in the United States.

One more time, let's recap the specs for those who have missed out on hearing about them. The 4.5 inch LCD screen on the device has a sterling resolution of 768 x 1280 for a tremendous pixel density of 332ppi. The dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 is under the good while the Adreno 225 GPU takes care of graphics. 1GB of RAM is on board while 32GB of native memory allows you to forget the lack of a microSD slot. The 8.7MP camera on back employs PureView technology although it does not offer quite as many MP as on the Nokia 808 PureView. Video is captured in 1080 at 30fps and there is a 1,3MP front-facing shooter. A 2000mAh battery allows for 17 hours of talk time and Windows Phone 8 is installed.
