So, it's finally here, eh? The iPad mini is announced and almost all the recent leaks and rumors we heard of have been confirmed. The iPad mini is a small and beautiful tablet, with a 7.9" display, aluminum casing and support for all the 275,000 tablet-optimized apps on the App Store...

Page views = ad revenue = trips for ray to visit apple events = more articles = page views = ad revenue = .... etc etc etc
I wouldn't mind so many articles if they didn't have such a pro-apple slant (especially ray's... he's about as bad as biddle on gizmodo...) and were unbiased. Let's be honest here: the ipad isn't beautiful, it isn't new, it isn't innovative, and it looks like a Note/Note2 that have been sent through a dough press width-wise, much like how the iphone5 looks like a 4S that went through one length-wise. It's a smaller tablet using out-of-date components on an old restrictive OS, and people are starting to realize it, as evidenced by apple's continuously decreasing market share. Sure they may sell more single models in a category than other companies, but they aren't #1 in sales of anything other than mobile-OS-based tablets by any stretch of the imagination, despite what they want you to think. It's the same regurgitated spew over and over, and as a former apple fan (up until the late 90's) it is disgusting and getting offensive with each regurgitation

Phonearena.... Writers have gone to far.....anyone can do your jobs....stop telling crap to the people......do yourself a favor jump off a cliff

check this out...
after reading this article it seems that the author and PA arent praising the iPad mini that much as compared to justifying the tablet with its competitors.
Why does PA have to justify and over sell the ipad mini if its that good of a device? Because iCrap isnt half as good as what is out there...its just an overpriced piece of crap...
And Apple has always been about showboating with its products...its a superficial product for shallow people. As a student I dont want to spend $329 for aluminum casing or $1000 for titanium casing...I want functionality on a budget which Google gives in nexus 7 with great perorming hardware anda sturdy build hard plastic casing which is not cheap by any means...i know cuz i have the damn device!

this site surely shud be renamed to iphonearena. the whole damn home page is about, ipad mini, ipad 4, is**t this and that. does any other manufacturer get this attention? does android which is far ahead get this attention? apple are only a showoff company addressing the immature types who fall for such stuff. only looks and sound, no real use or functionality.
PA writers...! u buggers should stop calling you real writers. you are a bunch of brainless stooges for apple. get a life retards !!

For 200$, my Nexus 7 is very good, but we cannot compare 2 tablets with different price,of course Mini is better...
9. Zero0 (Posts: 533; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
If you're Apple, it certainly is better. Apple makes a tidy margin on that iPad Mini, while Google/Asus and Amazon narrowly avoid taking a loss.

No! Not with the price point of BOTH the Nexus 7 & Kindle Fire HD.
8. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 3394; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
To add, it's not even a 7" tablet. It's 7.9", so let’s just say it's a 8" tablet. Not in the same category. lol

cant compete with the others should have kept the price down

Objectively, I still think the Nexus 7 is the best.
The iPad is soon to be $130 more than the 16GB Nexus 7, and $180 more in the 32GB market. The Nexus still has better hardware. All the Nexus is missing: a pretty case, a fruit logo, an awkward back camera, and a non-standard, monopolized adapter. None of this is worth the money.
In terms of Nexus vs. Kindle Fire, Nexus again. The Nexus is a bit better in most specs other than WiFi speed. As far as ecosystem, it's a decision between Play AND most of Amazon's ecosystem (everything but video) or just Amazon's ecosystem. Software-wise, Amazon's X-Ray feature is neat and all, but I'll still take Android 4.1 over 4.0.
Of course, how objective are consumers? They're more likely to see the iPad Mini or the Kindle Fire (unless Google brings back the Nexus ad on the homepage). Plus, many are already invested in the Apple ecosystem, and that will skew their decision towards the iPad. I would be shocked if the iPad Mini doesn't outsell the Nexus and Kindle Fire.

I dont think so, people are going to buy the Ipad mini because it is an Ipad. Thats plain and simple and I wouldnt be surprise if the Ipad mini sells more than both of them put together.
7. Aeires (unregistered)
Somehow I doubt it. Amazon's ecosystem is huge, and they sell at the best price point. Google is also advertising their tablet very well.
If the Mini outsells either, it's simply because of the symbol on the back, nothing more. Price is off, and specs don't matter after a certain point. And that point is, all three tablets essentially do everything you need them to do (key word essentially) so pricing will be a huge factor in sales.

iPad mini is like the poor apple fanboys wet dream ,people will save months for this , by contrast a nexus 7 is like a muscle car -cheap powerful but not for the average lemmings , the iPad mini is like a entry level BMW 1 series. People will just buy.millions just because it has a logo ,(30% will get destroyed in droptests and iPad vs .50 cal videos )

if people are dumb enough 2 buy ANOTHER ipad just near 2 inches smaller then ABSOLUTELY!!
16. -box- (Posts: 3470; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
I don't understand just buying a bleeping ipad2 instead if the buyer HAS to have an ipad. Same device, larger screen, comparable price...
12. noim1 (Posts: 252; Member since: 15 May 2012)
The new player will have to play its card right off he wants to stay in the game.. Well I can see he already lost In the pricing department with such por specs...ibuzz offf I will take the nexus 7 any day...
13. fanboy1974 (Posts: 819; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
There are 2 reasons why I can see this beating the competition; Apple's ecosystem and isheeep. The product by itself is old and over priced. Difference is that it's in a prettier body.

Not a Apple hater but I can play flash videos on my Kindle Fire.
17. speckledapple (Posts: 873; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
This article provides many great points but the one thing that matters in this time when pockets are already tight is cost. Apple may be able to trade on its full experience and its obvious attention to detail with its product and name but that price is a sticking point. The Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD are two very compelling products that, like was mentioned in the article above, has everything essential a consumer needs to utilize. And with those price points, especially if there is a drop on the Nexus 7, competition will be very hard.
That said, i would imagine that Google is starting to attack at the higher screen sizes with a bigger Nexus tablet, showing its users a way to reduce the numbers that the iPad currently has. The 7 inch market was a trojan horse of sorts which is why Apple released a mini. That alone speaks to the possibilities for competition in the coming quarters.

In this economy, ipad mini is a big loser. HC was crappy on a tablet but JB 4.2 is so much better than IOS in every way!

I might buy this. It's aluminium and glass, the feel and touch is no like others, but hugely let down by restricted ios.

here is my prediction... the ipad mini will be the tablet to get this holiday season

iPad mini is good but nexus7 is better!!! nexus7 is armed with quad core cortex A9 which is clocked at 1.3 GHrz . on the other hand ipad mini only has two cortex A9 core with 1 GHrz clock speed. additionally they are really closed at the erms of graphics. Because ULP Geforce under nexus7 has 12.5 Gflops and PowerVR543mp2 under iPad mini has 16 Gflops processing power. But nexus7 hase 1 GB of RAM and iPad mini only has 512 MB. Again nexux7 has better resolution and accept ratio by 1280*720 and iPad has 1024*768. pixel density of nexus7 is far better than iPad mini and i think nexus7 has one of the best screens in its class. Finally nexus7 has bigger battery by 16Wh against 13Wh of iPad. However iPad has their points too!!! iPad is lighter and thinner and it is made by aluminium but nexux is made by plastic. Additionally iPad has a 5MP camera and dual-band wifi. And in software terms!!!! I like android customization and beautiful UI more than simple ios UI. I believe that Google voice works better than siri and google absolutely has better maps than apple. Both devices are superbly smooth because of Jelly bean and have great markets. With the same price I love both because each one has their points but nexus7 is near 100 cheaper than ipad mini with the same size of internal memory and I think nexus7 is a better choice at all !!!!!!!

Say whatever Fandroids, whatch out this so called from you Ipod XXL overpriced killing the sales of all those small Android tablets includes the Kindle hd.....!!!!

Bigger Is Better and Apple made a comfortable switch to "this" window of sloaneering by going through HOME screen in less than 6 weeks. So next year expect a 6.2 inch phone (don't be disappointed this time width of phone will also change) from Apple in 2013 ... market is forcing them to change their atitude and this is just the begining .... :)

What hurts the iPad Mini is the price! Why would you buy a 7.9-in tablet that is more than the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD combined?? Unless you're going to buy it because its an Apple product, makes no sense to get it
29. CRICKETownz (Posts: 980; Member since: 24 Oct 2009)
unfortunately, if it came down to an iPad Mini or a Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Surface 8...yadda yadda yadda i would have to go with iPad Mini or Surface 8. those two options seem to have better build quality. BUT i'll say this...i took the Bing Challenge online & it seems that i prefer Google as a search engine over Bing. hmm...ironic.

It will sell well - iZOMBIES are everywhere - BEWARE the iPOCALYPSE!!

Screw you Amazon.
Bought my first generation kindle fire and a year later you've dropped support of all us good kindle fire owners. Were the reason 7inch tablets are succeding. Because we all bought your tablet. We put of with its sluggish performance for you and when we want new features, your response is "then upgrade".
Next time, I'm buying a Nexus tablet.
Kindle Fire owner soon to be Nexus 7 owner.

A friend of mind is selling his 32 Gb iPad 3 just to get the iPad Mini. Hilarious!
As much as I think the Nexus 7 is the better product, I think iPad Mini will be one of Apple's best seller and possibly the leader in the 7' tablets. Due to:
- iPad Mini being the Cheapest iPad ever! though seems overpriced, at $329 its a reasonable price for an entry level tablet. Especially for an Apple tablet.
- People who initially want to buy the retina iPad might decide buying iPad mini instead.
- Not that many country selling the Nexus 7 nor Kindle Fire. The iMini might going head to head with Samsung's 7" Tabs tho.
- I also think the iPad Mini will consume some of the iPod Touch potential buyers.

nice joke the nexus 7 is cheaper and has better specs !! so i don't know what fool would prefer a rotten apple re-sized ipad s**t over a nexus 7 (quad-core .jelly bean ,and hell lot more !!)
