Sony is expected to unveil its 2014 flagship Android handset next month at MWC. Samsung's Galaxy S5 might not be announced until April. Does Sony have a shot at stealing some of S5's potential customers?

If the rumor about QHD on 5.25" AMOLED screen from Samsung is true, then Samsung has the highest pixel density screen on the market.

2560 x 1440 @ 5.25" = 559.47 ppi

sqrt((2560)^2 + (1440)^2) / 5.25 = 559.47

that's the pixel density of new Samsung amoled display

BTW TFT sucks so bad. Amoled is the best, best deep black, best contrast ratio, best viewing angle, best under sun light, & more energy efficient (because there is no backlight).

I think Sony Sirius will become a Windows Phone flagship not android, I'm sure Sony is interested to Windows Phone now.

Sony is making a big stupid mistake confusing customers know with a new name. Just remain it Sony Experia. It's a very well known name all over the world, why stop and ruin that.know just leave the number and continue with Z2,Z3,Z4, like Samsung Galaxy,1,2,3,4,5, aswell as iPhone,1,2,3,4,5,6. Htc should also do the same, leave the recognition name HtcOne, HtcTwo,HtcThree, but they are using letters instead of numbers, something diffrent. Lg is doing the same, Lg2,Lg3.. ..

Listen to what your customer needs and wants, not what you think we need. Do a worlwide survey asking your fans and users what would they like, not ehat you would like..

First of all, Sony Sirius is a codename, not the real name. Secondly, it's Xperia, not Experia.

Name is not a big problem, most of Sony Xperia users are fine with the name. Only few people like you complaining about the name.

I think my next phone will be the Z2. Sony┬┤s are simple, yet very useful. I only need a well-built phone without all those gimmicks. A good camera and being waterproof is a big advantage for me. But I will definately take a look at the S5 too!

Just ensure that you can return the phone for upto 1 month after you have used it.

I bought the Xperia L and was happy for about 4-5 weeks after date of purchase. Now, I am quite disappointed for the phone I got for the price. With every update the performance has decreased and bugs have increased. There are even more problems but I am hopeful that they won't apply to future Sony Phones. I am not saying your experience will be bad. Just. Be careful. I wasn't. My brother had warned me. But I ignored him.

I had a SonyZ, sold it cause really hated the battery life. Really loved the phones sharp edged design, with sharp corners. Bought the S4 Korean S800 Cpu version. Will be looking forward to SonyZ2...

Nope, not until Sony get their heads out their asses, until then? They can only wish for Galaxy S type sales numbers, I'm sure it will be a decent phone though the Sirius.

sony needs to improve their user interface.
it is one thing what everyone takes into count when they are at last stage of buying the smartphone.

Xperia UI 3.0 , have a look at it. Completely customisable , functional & best in the multimedia category. Its simple , flat & classy design scheme would go well as the best designed UI too.

Honestly NO!!
But im guessing S5 will not meet S4 sales due to a lot of competition. But im guessing sony will kick a#@ this year!! They will be on the top 5 for 2014 for sure

Other than Apple, Samsung and the Chinese companies, Sony is the only smartphone company that can eek out a profit (a small one), much better than HTC, LG, BB and Nokia.

Sony is on their way to join Apple and Samsung in top 3. it will take them 2-4 years but they are on their way there. for sure. that is, if they keep producing smartphone slike Z, Z1, Z Ultra, Z1 Compact, etc. and keep improving their game all the time. they sure have everything it takes to be a top seller.

I think it can but that's just a dream if Sony stop playing favoritism w/exclusive and put their damn phone on every carrier including prepaid sales will sky rocket in u.s. That is if they spend another on marketing

Sony will come back to take on Samsung very soon. That"s true it"s only on T-Mobile, it should be on all 5 carriers.
They should market themself more, like Samsung. Sony products are superb. Iove Sony.

Where"s ExperiaKnight...

i'll make it simple
SONY: GOOD DESIGN, WATERPROOF, BAD DISPLAY, LACK OF GESTURE
SAMSUNG: BAD DESIGN, PLASTIC, NOT WATERPROOF, REMOVABLE BATTERY, S-PEN &GOODIES

MY OPINIONS ONLY..

This is a strategy. When Sony releases their flagship phone, Sammy will begin to advertise their flagship phone. And these guys are good (Samsung) when it comes to advertising. They know how to sway the public into buying their own ideas. Recently they took over an iconic landmark in Kenya's capital city Nairobi with huge displays that can be seen over 1Km way just to advertise their name and logo SAMSUNG.

Clearly, after SONY releases its flagship phone, SAMSUNG will purforate their sells by releasing eye candy adverts and flooding the internet with rumours of futuristic features that obviously no phones have by utilizing the phrase "First ever phone to have 4GB of RAM, First ever phone to have a Coffee machine XD hehehe"

Sony photos are ALL overprocessed. Too much, even in 8mpx ! They should fix it. I prefer Sammy camera.

Sony will rock this time they missed out on xperia Z because of poor screen... this time it will be IPS triluminous just like Z1 COMPACT ... IPs now no more complains of poor viewing angles.. the only thing that held them back has been fixed and with a great camera like Z1 they will steal the show...
xperia Z1 is their best selling phone.. just wait for them to release the sales number.. despite being in such poor condition financially they did not lowered their sales forecast for smartphones ..this tells a lot.. just make the bezzles a little bit smaller and at least tech savvy people will switch to Sony.. Sony has been the best company this year when it comes to pricing... the mid to low end Market was completely owned by them..
with xperia sp and xperia M being best sellers.. apart from nexus phones..

I like both Samsung & Sony tech, what ever it is bring it on, and i more likely these two vs Nokia or vs Apple.

Um the waterproofing has plenty of compromises. Like horrible annoying flaps and physical dimensions that are too big. The GS4 active failed because no one really wanted a water proof version over a sleeker and more compact design.
