10. ayephoner posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:56 8 5

android has it. it works about 5% of the time.

12. BarneyDroid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:58 4 6

Well if you have a stuttering problem then sure it will only work 5% of the time... What do you expect from android!?

14. wassup posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:06 6 5

i think you left the 9 before the 5%.
i don't know, maybe you have a funny accent or a stuttering problem, but it works for us normal people :D

16. ayephoner posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:09 5 2

it is the single lagiest, least functional thing on my droid x. and thats really saying something.

18. wassup posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:12 2 1

like i said, you got a stuttering problem?
hell, my SGS II does it flawlessly :P
i assume you have no problem with android, but want to be considered 'cool' and want an iPhony?

26. bucky posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:28 2

32. wassup posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:36 2 1

Its work 2/3 times an thats good watch you not going to be able to hold phone when you do it :P

52. darth8ball posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:53 2 1

Mine works lovely all you have to do is the initial voice recognition properly and set the speed recognition right for your speech pattern (very easy to do) and voila.

61. Tmachaveli posted on 27 Sep 2011, 16:17 1

that's a dam lie

80. NVPMOTHAF posted on 28 Sep 2011, 22:45

I have to agree with ayephoner. I troubleshoot androids all day.....in fact come to think of it, 98% of the calls i get all day are anroid users with issues...hmm. let's factor that one in. Anyways back to the main topic, android voice recognition is like a dirty hooker, it only works if you slap it around a little bit. Oh and factory reset it....i forgot that one in there but it really wouldn't fit with the hooker scenario.

3. BarneyDroid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:47 2 5

Already been done. The Original Droid in 2009 had it.

44. simplyj posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:20 4 1

Feature phones had it years before any smartphone had it. Suck on that, bitch.

4. som posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:48 2 5

Is Apple has a Patent for this?

8. BarneyDroid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:51 2 3

No, but on Apple defense this is INNOVATIVE! hahaha

5. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:48 6 7

Oh man that's ridiculous. Android invented voice recognition and no one else can add features to their phone. Android is first at everything AND has more market share.

I foresee about 80 troll comments here.

13. wassup posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:04 4 4

*sigh* didn't apple said no one should add multi-touch by applying for a patent and trademark for it?
lol don't hate the player, hate the game that apple started

19. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:18 3 3

No Apple has certain gestures that they were the first to use and patented. That's innovation. Adding voice recognition, which has been around forever, is not innovation. Apple doesn't have a patent on multitouch but the gestures.

21. GALAXY-S posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:22 2

like the 3 finger tap to zoom??

22. BarneyDroid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:24 1 2

Apple was trying to patent the term "multi-touch" not "gestures" or a specific type of user interaction on the screen... "First to use" maybe. Did Henry Ford try to patent the steering wheel?

30. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:33 2 2

You're fandroid memory only lasts a day. Apple owns patents on certain gestures. What they lost today was to patent the term multitouch.

And yes if they came up with the way to interact with a smartphone they should profit from it.

66. AppleFUD (unregistered) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 17:52 2 1

yeah, cause no one ever used any gestures on any type of device before . . . oh wait, yeah I guess Logitech and a few other mouse-pad producers had a few. . . apple took the obvious and applied it to the iphone and then got a patent--no we never locked in vertical or horizontal scrolling in a web browser before the iphone.

It amazes me, every time you say something about apple it's always, "they did it first." You really must be the most clueless tech enthusiast on the planet or just retarded not to be able to see where there ideas came from.

Spend a little time and read about the 30+ years of multi-touch and you might just realize that every gesture has been done. . . no one but apple is clueless enough to think that every "multi-touch gesture" ought to be patented, as others know there is prior art and natural behavior. . . but apple is now a patent troll.

And to end it all, how sad is it that apple's "big patents" for the iphone are gestures. yeah, they really patented all that tech they invented/innovated.

67. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 18:08 2 2

Okay so who was using pinch to zoom gestures before Apple?

74. NeXoS posted on 27 Sep 2011, 23:03 1

Jeff Han, look him up!

73. NeXoS posted on 27 Sep 2011, 23:03 1

This is the part where taco says, "well played sir!"

72. NeXoS posted on 27 Sep 2011, 23:01 1 1

gestures? like what? pinch to zoom? sorry, apple didn't invent that, Jeff Han invented that and he probably got the idea from Minority Report.

For Apple to even apply for a patent for that tells you how devious they are!

79. MetalPhoenix79 posted on 28 Sep 2011, 16:27

So is a home button innovation? I only ask because Apple has a law suit over that.

55. darth8ball posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:56 3

TROLL

6. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:49 5 6

I like the last sentence

"And he feels that his estimate that overall, 25 million Apple iPhone units will be sold in that quarter, will prove to be too conservative."

56. darth8ball posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:56 1 4

TROLL

75. NeXoS posted on 27 Sep 2011, 23:05

Look at Munster's estimates in the past, he's always over estimated by 2-3x, he's pumping a company that his firm has thousands if not millions of shares in. What else did you expect from this idiot analyst's mouth?

7. drodriguezsd posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:49 1 2

Android does have it. iPhone will have it. What's your point? If you're not using an iPhone GTFO and stop trolling. Thanks!

9. rwrife posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:55 1

Beause brokerage firms have an inside on Apple Technology!

11. dacastrator posted on 27 Sep 2011, 13:56 1 1

Wow. Very innovative Appe.

15. wassup posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:09 2 1

to all apple haters- apple is the only one allowed to add new features like voice recognition, when apple does it, it's innovative and they'll act like they invented it. Their fanboys say that apple is innovative, when they take features that were in android before.
enjoy your android 1.6- i mean iOASS 5

17. Appoid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:11 1 3

How do they consistently offer mediocre tech at the highest bid, thats so old, and most of you are right, they will say this is market breaking\innovative. They need to open up their UI and stop wasting time, No iphone 5 either, the 3S proved they could market the same product and bank on it.

24. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:25 2 3

The 3GS is still the 2nd beat selling phone behind the iPhone 4 in the US.

35. Appoid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:42 1 2

Yup this is true and with what innovation on the device? What form factor change? Any UI improvements? nope, nope, and nope. Apple makes a highly profitable device but couldnt match the specs of most devices that are presented during the same periods.

37. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:47 2 2

So the question is why do people prefer a two year old phone to the new androids coming out?

40. fagpple (unregistered) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:10 2 2

because of the economy. 3GS is cheap right now and new droids are expensive. period.

50. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:50 2 2

Please don't play the cheap card when there's a load of free crapdroids with 2 year contract and BOGO'S on high end androids.

47. Appoid posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:40 2

LOL indeed, a great question, i think mainly in part that most people have no clue whats really out there, and how tech plays a part in a great experience.

51. taco50 (banned) posted on 27 Sep 2011, 15:51 2 2

The thing is a lot of people do know what android offers and still prefer an iPhone. That's what a lot of android fans can't admit to themselves

20. GALAXY-S posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:21 4 2

27. stealthd posted on 27 Sep 2011, 14:28

Nuance's voice recognition is supposedly the best. This also doesn't use the internet connection, it uses the phone's actual hardware, not a server, so there shouldn't be as long of a delay (if any). So what's new about this? Just that it should be BETTER than the current competition.
