Boxed HTC One (2014) unit hits eBay, is quickly sold for $499.99

0. phoneArena 12 Mar 2014, 10:21 posted on

As we guessed earlier today, we are back with yet another HTC One (M8)-related leak before the day is even out. This time around, some sneaky person has apparently, somehow, managed to get his hands on a Verizon-branded, fully-boxed HTC M8 and has already managed to sell it on eBay after a short bidding exchange that saw the price shoot up from the initial asking price of $199 all the way up to $499.99...

Does everyone really think that these prices are just coincidences?? There is no way that the auction just happened to end at $499.99 to the penny. HTC are refreshing their flagship phone to be more affordable. I guarantee that the non-contract retail price on this phone will be the exact same as what this phone was sold for on ebay!

This box only means there is a 32GB version, but there might be a 16GB version as well.

I Dont really care about the camera but if the battery is indeed 2600 I won't be upgrading from my One 2013. To be honest that's why I would have hoped the role of the Fcking bezel is...make phone bigger put a decent battery in...
Guess wait for 25th then..

if it was HTC plan they would not sale it for $499. 99 they would drive the price very high on eBay.

true that can happen but they would drive the price higher and buy it just like apple did drive the price up to $10000 last year. $499. 99 price just doesn't scream HTC plan

I really do think that this was a marketing move on HTC. I believe what they are saying is that the phone will go for $199 on two-year contract and $499 without contract.

Negative publicty is still publicity and can be turned to positive. This is htc leaking their own product and even buying it too. Bad marketing strategy that may surprise and have rare outcome. Still wont buy htc though, id rather buy an asus zenphone 6...

No way this was HTC. This is a Verizon employee who will be jobless as soon as ebay gives up his/her info when HTC presses them for it. This is ILLEGAL. This phone has NOT been released yet.

If this is an actual HTC phone, I would think it would sell for a lot more than that. I just sold an iPhone 4S 64GB for $300 on ebay. Odd, to say the least.

Why would they use DDR2 ram when they have used DDR3 ram before?

They didn't, the HTC One is also DDR2.

that is strange, I thought they had used DDR3 in the One X+, there is no disadvantage to using better ram besides cost.

Ddr3 improves the battery life which was the main plus.
