In my opinion, it's not really a bet as much as it is a decision to spend a few days/weeks developing the app for the WP platform. A bet would entail putting a significant amount of cash at risk, like the developers did when they started that company. Box is really just trying to reach out to more potential clients without putting a lot of capital at stake.

Interesting.... But what ad advantages does it have over SkyDrive? Sure, the free storage on top of SkyDrive would be nice...

It is only 5 GB of free storage, NOT 50 GB, that a big discrepancy.
