Bose SoundSport Wireless and Wireless Pulse earphones announced to get you in on the fitness gadget craze

With fitness gadgets being all the rage right now, Bose announced its new sports-oriented wireless earphones. The offering comes in the form of the Bose SoundSport Wireless and the SoundSport Pulse – successors to 2014's SoundSport – featuring Bluetooth and NFC connectivity for pairing, a high-precision heart rate monitor (only for the Pulse) and better battery life.

The new SoundSport earphones' rubber tips have little "hooks" that Bose calls an “extended flexible wing”, which keeps the earbuds from falling from your ears. Yes, we know the words hook and ear shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence, but really, they don't look all that menacing:

The Bose SoundSport Wireless and Pulse earbuds are weather- and moisture-resistant – with their acoustic ports positioned at an angle to keep water out of the buds – and are covered in a special hydrophobic cloth. Bose promises a 6-hour battery life for the new model – up from the 5 hours of their predecessor – with a 15-minute quick recharge that should get you another hour or so of sweating your ears off (and music).

The SoundSport Wireless is available in two colors for $149.95 and if you're looking for something a bit cheaper, Bose has slashed the price of the previous model from $129.95 to $99.95. The SoundSport Pulse is expected to launch in September for around $179, and its pulse-tracking abilities will work with Runkeeper, Endomondo and other fitness apps.
