You'd even have the Android navigational buttons like Back and Home as a Charms menu on the right. Moreover, BlueStacks now allows you to run the Android applications full screen...

lol that Blue stack is a punch in the face for droid Fanboys bashing about apps well that issue is straight out of the ground in one blow

This program makes android apps even more popular. Who needs making software for windows if there is such a fertile app like BlueStacks. Windows is punched, not android!

Windows OS isn't going away any time soon. Keep dreaming...
27. funnyguy posted on 12 Feb 2013, 12:51 1 1
Dude we are talking about windows 8 pro here, not RT.
Who needs the phone quality apps android has to offer when you have a huge x86 world to explore.?
The selection off programs on x86 platforms is enormous compared to everything out there ..
Plus android apps are not even optimised for larger screens.
30. erdpov posted on 12 Feb 2013, 13:33 1 0
if windows 8 is really such a huge world to explore, so this bluestack is piece of useless s**t. What is the reason to create it? There is no sense in it according to you. If you're right tell me why people are so excited about it? Windows RT, Windows 8, an average user doesn't even care if there is a difference between them. I don't understand the point of your post.
29. bon24x7 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 13:30 2 5
W8=millions of legacy x86 softwares+games+w8 apps+750000 android apps..
Android=750000 apps+braindead zombie fans...
who punched who...? come again...
32. erdpov posted on 12 Feb 2013, 13:59 2 0
I don't care how many millions or thousands apps windows posseses. I just know android has got a lot of apps I use daily. And I'm sure that these apps are likely to get updates regularly. I also know that android has got many options that windows cannot offer now on mobile gadgets such as best hardware, a vast range of hardware, a promising os and so on.
34. haseebzahid posted on 12 Feb 2013, 14:44 0 3
hahaha u dont need to care about the world of real softwares and games you can stick to your tiny pond
for ur lack of info pro came with not best hardware in mobile but the top hardware which exceeds any mobile hardware used in desktops and there is nothing android can have against surface pro simply its outdated and overrated crap
33. haseebzahid posted on 12 Feb 2013, 14:39 0 2
first of all pro is far more then android which can eat dust vs the pro performance its runs every game released on PC and soon news games gonna come with touch screen mode too so technically u android is left far behind the windows again win app store is now 750k android+wp7/8+win softwares which is actually 1000 times bigger then android apps list ow i forgot android is not even comparable to windows8 different platform

E X A C T L Y.....lol.
Android apps running on Surface.....how is this a punch in the face for Android fans?
Android fans like Android....software, apps.
Maybe this is a punch in the face for Android ...tablet....fans.

Bluestacks is buggy, many apps don't run well and not every app works. This is nothing to really be a selling point for windows 8.
40. bvalde09 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 18:00 1 0
I have a macbook air install Bluestacks there and it really its not the same. I play every now and then on my Nexus 4. Dont get me wrong gets the job done but I wouldnt dare to say that will boost the sale

Love to see android fans and Windows fans punching each other on my Mac :p
6. pfroo40 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 09:41 1 1
I've played around with this on my laptop and it is pretty slick. The biggest issue I have so far though is that it seems to be unable to run larger games that require additional content download (Nova, Asphalt etc). I've also heard that performance is a little laggy still. The most advanced game I could run was Samura II Vengeance, which ran fine, but on an i7 with a 640M so a bit beefier than even a Surface Pro.
14. haseebzahid posted on 12 Feb 2013, 10:21 2 8
performance might be translated from android as android was laggy too
45. taz89 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 20:11 0 0
well thats not the case surely if a quad core mobile processor can run most apps great than a i7 pc processor should literally eat these android apps for lunch...my guess is an emulator which this is will never be good as a native regardless how powerful it is.
49. haseebzahid posted on 13 Feb 2013, 00:25 0 0
i made a joke on android laggism ported as it is dont know if it is true but porting is tricky stuff take example of console games emulated on PC even the high end pc might not do well on emulator simply because of software doesnt use hardware well
10. erdpov posted on 12 Feb 2013, 10:10 1 1
Investing windows platform is not the right thing while expecting the android software IMHO

now microsoft should be really thankful to bluestacks for bringing android apps to windows........i have been using bluestacks(beta), and it is a fact that android apps aren't really optimized for tablet and the surface pro can run all the pc games, which means that bluestacks will be more useful for widows rt and the wp8 operating systems(MS will try to prevent them from doing that)..... anyways, they have done a great job, their aim was to create an android app player for windows and they have achieved it.
20. UrbanPhantom posted on 12 Feb 2013, 10:59 0 0
I remember the promises about Java eliminating platform dependency, but years later we are no further towards that objective. I hope something like this will help to achieve the goal of buying a device that can run everything, instead of having all of these seperate islands...
28. techspace posted on 12 Feb 2013, 13:08 0 0
exactly, and this would be very helpful to developers as well, they can make the app for one platform and the app players will take care of the rest.
36. HDShatter posted on 12 Feb 2013, 15:36 0 0
Surface pro can run platformers/ancient PC games, I would love to see one run any recent games 30 fps + 24/7 with intel 4000.

I ordered the Acer Iconia W700 instead, it provides the same performance with better battery life, and they bundle it with a Bluetooth keyboard, case, and dock still haven't tried bluestacks but I will today

Still with that old Gingerbread Dalvik VM, it seems that they will never learn how to use anything newer.

Is time for me to sell my ipad mini and go buy that Lenovo think pad 2.
Full w8 experience ,x86 programs, Microsoft apps , andoid apps , 10 hours of battery life, as thin and light as the ipad ....
What more can I ask?
31. haroonazeem638 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 13:52 3 0
Out of the 750000, I am pretty sure not even half of them will work. I know this because I have used bluestacks on PC (and it is the same thing on the tab too). The apps that WILL run are going to lag. But then again, even if 100,000 of the android apps work properly on W8, that is still good. Doesn't motivate me to spend $900 on the tablet though. I am happy with the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, a windows 8 laptop and a windows 8 pc
37. HDShatter posted on 12 Feb 2013, 15:38 3 0
On bluestacks only basic 2d apps seem to work and the emulator is far from perfect, everything lags even on i7s oced with gtx 680.
41. Edmund posted on 12 Feb 2013, 18:08 0 0
alongside the 100's of millions already available on the X86 platform ???

One word "wine"....
Running arm apps on x86 isn't a big but running x86 apps on arm architecture is...
Now android is the winner...
The point is you can run x86 on tablet with a reasonable size..
44. taz89 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 20:06 0 0
isnt this just going to lead to piracy..correct me if am wrong you cant purchase android apps like you do on the play store so to have purchased apps to run on this you would have to obtain the file illegally right?
47. jroc74 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 21:02 0 0
If somehow the Play Store can be installed on a Surface....
48. taz89 posted on 12 Feb 2013, 21:18 0 0
again they may be a illegal way possible eventually but i highly doubt blue stack themselves will do it as i think the play store needs googles permission to be used on...ie even though android itself is free the oems still have to pay to have goolgle propierty apps i think.
51. jroc74 posted on 13 Feb 2013, 06:43 0 0

50. tigermcm posted on 13 Feb 2013, 05:51 2 0
I have the funniest feeling that eventually, with all this cross over mess, there will no longer be windows or android it will just be one

Make it for Windows RT Tablet and Windows Phone 8 and then Microsoft has something to brag about.
