BlackBerry loses its Executive VP for BBM, Andrew Bocking

A terse statement from BlackBerry confirmed that Andrew Bocking has left the troubled Canadian manufacturer. Bocking was the Executive VP for messaging service BBM, which meant that was the top man on the BBM totem pole. One published report cites an anonymous source as saying that BlackBerry let him go as it plans on moving BBM to the enterprise group...

I suspect that Bocking was poached. If BB let him go, Chen is just as stupid as his predecessors.

Yeah, and the three Bozos before Chen had plans too. Bocking's departure s a huge loss for BB.

Nobody is saying it isn't a loss for BlackBerry. Of course it is. But John Chen knows what he's doing. In the few months he's been in charge, he has made excellent decisions for the company, and he has done much in the way of changing shareholder perception, and to an extent, public perception, of BlackBerry. And there is absolutely NO WAY you can compare John Chen to the three "bozos" that ran the company into the ground.

BBM's failure to go cross-platform can be directly attributed to him. This is a critical time for BlackBerry in the consumer market. Failure is not an option.
