Earlier this month, the BlackBerry-esque Motorola DEFY PRO brought a combination of water and dust resistance and a portrait mode oriented QWERTY to Brazil; now Motorola is taking this rugged smartphone to Canada where it will be launched by Rogers...

first off, i am first. now that that is out of the way, if blackberry and nokia would just ditch their current os and install android, that would save their respective companies. Blackberry would have an edge with secure messaging, govt contracts, and nokia would have an edge with their exquisite build quality. it is a not brainer to me..but then again..i do not have much of a brain!!! lol.

uuuhhh... no, if they go full force android...it will be a hard market... the only andriod king is samsung...htc, sony and motorola are hardly keeping up..even we know that motorola make tough phones and they are GOOGLE's company now but its not available everywhere only in US, canada and europe... htc has alien tech but they are hardly un notice by other cuntries because they only markey in US and 1st world countries.. they forgot about most of asia...
for me, i feel weird holding a WP powered nokia lumia device,i dont think im holding a nokia device...but it still looks elegant...
but nokia need MS and WP to gain the 3rd spot of the race... i do not think that nokia should go to andriod because it is going to be a hard catch up, same goes with blackberry...
all blackberry needs to do is to make there ecosystem more bigger... they need to at least license the OS but lower than what Microsoft's Windows Phone costs and/or legally port the android app to their ecosystem... they need that to survive.. and make phones that is cheaper to reach the low end market too... 3rd world countries wants a BB device too but its too expensive!!! now that BB10 looks promising...every one is looking forward to it!
unlike blackberry, nokia did a very bad choice...they put all they got on WP wich is still unknown to many people... and they kill their very own meego and symbian.. but thanks to the jolla people of saving the meego OS... and nokia make a really bad choice of making S40 an OS for there low end phones... even the dummiest person knows that S40 sucks, at least they make symbian the OS for low end market... because the low end market is now ruled by the galaxy y...and android device that can at leastr do a simple multitasking and rich app store..
these company needs an OS of their own too, even samsung is brewing bada and tizen!!... they could make android phones but not as there primary but as a back up!

"it will be a hard market"
No. Both Nokia and RIM have their own distinct features that they could work on and develop. Imagine Android with the Nokia offline maps. I would pay for that, or the RIM HW keyboard and Android - there is no such thing right now (i mean good phone, not the low end "twiter" devices that we are getting).
Both company thought that they will be lost in sea of Androids, but now they are drawing in their uniqueness.
Google is making big efforts to make Android less noticeable to the users, so each manufacturer could shine. They collect their money from our personal data ;)

but if they put the nokia maps, google will have a tough competition... i think google wont be so happy about that!
what i want is at least they should make at least one powerful android and see if it will raise them...
a nokia with andriod with nokia goodies will be great...
a blackberry android with bb goodies will be awesome!
but i want nokia to stick to there own OS, it is there identity same goes with blackberry!
nokia is symbian and maemo (but since maemo is own by jolla now) and blackberry is blackberry OS!
symbian can be revive if they just put all the innovation on that OS! a lot of people sees belle and belle fp1 can catch up to android (people who are not a hater of nokia but android faboys just hate nokia so much...i dont know why) but afraid to buy a symbain phone because it wont be supported now!
at least nokia continue the support on symbian by there low end market!! replace there stupid asha s40 OS!!

Last year I would have agreed about your Nokia and Bb statement, but now that Nokia is with microsoft, there is no way thats gonna happen...
They both should have try and use more than 1 OS including android. Like HTC and Samsung did...
Anyway this phone seems sweet for my careless, bb lover, fat fingers Dad.

I highly doubt that RIM folk are losing any sleep over this not so competitive offering. They have larger, much much larger things to worry about.
