BlackBerry Z10 is doing the impossible: "returns are now exceeding sales" in the US
0. phoneArena 11 Apr 2013, 14:59 posted on
BlackBerry had a pretty tough road ahead if it wanted to find a way back to relevance, and over the past couple of days it is sounding like BlackBerry has no chance at all in the US. Yesterday, we heard that less than 20% of Americans even knew the Z10 had been released, and today analysts are saying that Z10 "returns are now exceeding sales", which is almost an impossible feat to accomplish...

Poor RIM :( Good concepts and device but they were just a little too late in updating their aging devices.

It's almost as though they aren't biased in order to calm potential customers and share holders!

Here's another update:
"BlackBerry to ask regulators to probe report on returns"

Ye cuz it's a lie. The analysts who made it up have no hard evidence on anything they said...It's obvious some other company is paying them to bash blackberry...durrr doesn't take a genious to figure that out. Did u guys bother to read the reviews on Tmobile and ATT...

BB had a marketing van parked in downtown San Mateo, CA today trying to drum up consumer interest in the Z10. There were 5 marketers trying to interest a handful of walkers-by. Drive-by marketing isn't going to sell BBs.
BB lost the market when they took a pass on last year's Xmas season. They couldn't get a reliable release out in time for the holidays. Props to them for not dumping slop as was done in the past. But the delay has cost them. The market has moved on.

Nokia fell into the same trap and they are still struggling to get out of it.
88. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
The stock for BBRY was manipulated so that 6 retarded analysts can make up lies about people returning them...This is false info! Most of u people didn't even try the phone out so please shut it

Wow it's over. I was working for Verizon when bb7 dropped and knew it was over then

Played with Z10 there is a learning curve for simple task like browsing the Web and accessing apps.
Too little too late.
No good for black berry and consumer! I want them to succeed.

It's not too late it will just take some time...Cities weren't built in a day

Ok so how exactly can returns be m ore than sales?
4. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 944; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
Weapons of mass destruction in Iraq: they never existed. Perhaps sales figures listed for the Z10 were in "excess" of reality, and so now you have more returns than sales ;o)
7. MikeG77 (Posts: 348; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
I think they were talking about sales to the carriers initially and not directly to consumers. In regards to your WMD's comment there were WMD's but they were moved outside of the country ie Iran, Syria etc etc.
33. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 944; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
Who can say about the Z10, but if you have proof for your claims that weapons of mass destruction did exist in Iraq, as the Bush administration claimed, then feel free to present any credible evidence that you have in your keeping. As to this date, we have nothing but the lies of Cheney and Rumsfield...
I am not against RIM/Blackberry, but I think their chances for a revival are greatly diminished.
41. MikeG77 (Posts: 348; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
Thats the problem there is no credible evidence for either of us to back up our respective opinions. I would agree with you that BB is in very big trouble and this is not a good indicator of where BB is heading.
54. UrbanPhantom (Posts: 944; Member since: 30 Oct 2012)
With all due respect, the absense of proof indicates a negative result. Hence, if I claim that I'm a wizard with magical powers, and yet offer no evidence to support my claim, what does that prove? The only thing I know for certain is the American public blindly supported a war without any legitimate evidence...
At this point it looks like what remains of RIM/BBRY is mostly patents, and mobile security protocols. I can see them being bought in in the near future buy any of the big three (Apple, Google, Microsoft).
58. MikeG77 (Posts: 348; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
You need to blame our wonderful elected officials for that screw up seeing as Bush needed congressional approval to go and start a war.
I think either Apple or Google will buy them out but there waiting for it to hit bottom which will be very soon unless an act of God occurs.
76. jromy (Posts: 110; Member since: 26 Feb 2013)
I'm not sure what this has to do with the hard times for RIM.
But Bush didn't need congressional approval, he could wage war to any country he wants for up to three months without the approval of the congress.

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
And ,mikeg77, dubya lost the popular vote, the people did not elect him.
8. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
as expected of itoys n BBuser... they got no brain... if there are 20 people buying z10. 11 people return it after few days. now you'll get the real number of sales which is 9. ergo, the returns exceed the sales.
12. MikeG77 (Posts: 348; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
I don't think thats a fair statement that all iPhone/BB users have no brain. This is a direct result in the sales represenatives not qualifying the customer proplerly ie: assuming that because they have been a long time BB user that they will automatically want the Z10. I would love to sit down and talk to some of these customers and ask them why they returned the device because i think they will have some interesting stories to tell.
22. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
I'm pretty sure the main reason for the returns is exactly that people with no brains tried to use it lol just like BillyG people without brains can't get past that home button...This phone is better for tomorrows generation
26. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
right..., you're talking like your username, high of xtasy... no amount of scientific fact written there. and z10 for tomorrow generation? you want future generation to be dead just like what z10 is going to be soon? ... what a joke,
or maybe you mean for your generation, which is very good, since you and your generation are just oxygen thieves. We're all worse off because you exist. Thank god you'll eventually die.
21. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
The only people that have no brains are people like u who speak without one hahahahaha
28. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
see, another stupid BBuser that high on crack... poor BB... not only their z10 flop in the market, they also have to suffer having a fanboy like you...
27. darkkjedii (Posts: 8885; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Not even sure why you'd include iPhones in this post, when returns exceeding sales doesn't even remotely apply to the iPhone. If anything people are smart for choosing the iPhone, its supported with updates for 3 to 4 years, practically every business on earth supports/caters its services to it, auto makers drool over cuz so many people own one, that it helps sell cars for the syncing with the sound system. The Eco system is the biggest around, and ther are apple stores world wide to assist you anywhere you go. Dude your post shows how much brain you have for including one of the best selling devices in history in an article about returns exceeding sales. What a lame lol
29. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
take a look at rustic avatar... even though it says think linux... its still an apple... and buying device with the same OS for over 5 years... i really don't think its smart
34. MikeG77 (Posts: 348; Member since: 24 Nov 2008)
So if someone uses the Android OS for over 5 yrs does that make them seem stupid. Just so you know its called brand loyalty and it has its pros and cons just like everything else in life.
38. darkkjedii (Posts: 8885; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Exactly, a lot of people use iOS cuz it works for them...what's wrong/dumb about that?
44. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
no android OS is the same for over 5 years. they always innovate.
53. tedkord (Posts: 3778; Member since: 17 Jun 2009)
I think he was talking about how iOS hasn't changed since it came out. Android of today is vastly different than Android of 5 years ago.
37. darkkjedii (Posts: 8885; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
Sorry dude, but there is no way you can clean up that silly post you wrote. Returns exceeding sales was the topic, not using an OS for a period of time...yet you include a phone that not only sells like hotcakes but has one of the highest customer satisfaction rates. Plain lame comment billy, and I mean no disrespect. It simply made no sense bro.
46. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
i merely show how stupid rusticguy is...
and sorry to burst your silly itoys bubble.... higher sells doesn't mean its better (and you think GS series don't sell like hotcakes ?? ). its only a trend, and thankfully people now start realising that. take a look at that the news that the sells are yearly decline now (google hon hai foxconn low iphone demand)
65. darkkjedii (Posts: 8885; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)
I never said it was better, and never said GS doesn't sell well. I said "Not even sure why you'd include iPhones in this post, when returns exceeding sales doesn't even remotely apply to the iPhone". You keep adding in stuff that has nothing to do with odd ball post you made. As I said before dude...you can't clean up, or change the fact that the post I responded to made absolutely no sense at all. All it was, was a lame attempt to bash apples user base. I'll tell you who has no brain...people who allow others to pressure them into buying what they don't actually want, in order to be apart of the in crowd. If you want iOS buy it, if you want android buy it. Smart people like myself own both.
96. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
it might be 'odd' for ios user like you... your brain could never handle facts... and its you who started bringing those sales... i never have any intention to clean up as its a very clear statement...
"people who allow others to pressure them into buying what they don't actually want, in order to be apart of the in crowd"
lol, thats rich coming from iConUser... considering they buy it for trend only... and you own both? well then you're not as stupid as i thought, i'll call you half smart ...
93. 9thWonderful (Posts: 228; Member since: 24 Jan 2013)
Fyi...the GS series is becoming as trendy as iPhones.
77. 8logic (Posts: 121; Member since: 05 Mar 2012)
that is possible, if people bought BB during week 1 and 2 then return them during week 3; also while week 3 the sales was also down.
10. Tsepz_GP (Posts: 641; Member since: 12 Apr 2012)
Oh dear :( not good at all, I actually had hope for them, I really want BB10 to do well, it looks very promising, and looks like a better alternative to Android and iOS than WP. Maybe BB will just have to pull out of the mass US market and focus on the enterprise market there.
72. vincelongman (Posts: 464; Member since: 10 Feb 2013)
The more competition, the better because more chances of major improvements and innovations in my opinoin
11. dubbsix (Posts: 8; Member since: 19 Oct 2012)
When you release a device that suffers from random reboots on one of the largest carriers in the US your return rate will be high. When your email sync interval is a minimum 15 minutes, the phones going back.
I had 3 Z10's all had problems with software glitches and reboots. Returned it and got another Android.
30. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
Mine only had 3 random reboots but compare those problems to the ones droid devices have blackberry Z10 still much better. I'm sure a software update will fix those problems
91. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
Ye that's what happens when u use the best phone around hahaha Just like when u fall in love u get all high and it's same feeling like being on crack from what researchers are saying...So yes using this phone gives you a nice high...You can be jealous now ;)
48. jroc74 (Posts: 3624; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
Sorry my friend, cant speak in generalizations when it comes to any of these phones.
My Maxx HD has had none or waaay less random reboots than my Droid X1 and Rezound. All Android phones.
Just like updates can fix whatever issue the Z10 is having, updates can fix issues with Android phones.
92. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
i had the phone for 3 weeks now and 3 reboots...Those reboots had to happen to update the phone and now works better than before.
Ye well your android phone will never have true multi tasking and the best touch screen keyboard like this one and it won't have a Hub. It won't have time shift camera and all the other great useful features
I let people try out just the keyboard on my phone and were blown away by it. I had one guy yell out that the Blackberry Z10 is the best phone in a crowded Pizza Hut just after 2 minutes of using it. People with their Galaxy S3 loved it and told me that the S3 keyboard lags even though S4 coming out...nothing special about the S4
These people told me they want to get this phone over the S4
15. HDShatter (Posts: 1014; Member since: 17 Jan 2013)
If they would of used android and priced it lower it would of been a lot better.
16. akz1112 (Posts: 16; Member since: 24 Mar 2013)
There goes my entire life saving. I was all in with bb stocks.
19. clevername (Posts: 1401; Member since: 11 Jul 2008)
It took me a moment to figure this out. I'm guessing that returns are higher than current sale. Not total sales.
I thought blackberry had released a good device, but it must not be very good if most people are returning it. This is beyond bad.
20. Xtasy (Posts: 270; Member since: 13 Jan 2013)
I still have my Blackberry Z10 and love it so where do they come up with more returns than sales is beyond stupid
31. BillyG (Posts: 304; Member since: 24 Sep 2012)
thank god others still sober and smart enough to return those z10 before its too late... unlike you and maybe 100 others BB fanboy that high on crack...
