BlackBerry Tour 9630 getting push-to-talk upgrade with new model coming in May?
BGR has found out a couple of interesting pieces of news relating to the Verizon version of the BlackBerry Tour 9630. First, the long awaited BlackBerry 5.0 OS upgrade will take place sometime in the next 2-3 weeks. The upgrade will also include a new "Push-To-Talk" function that will cost an extra $5 a month to work over Verizon's data network. The next bit of news is that the BlackBerry Tour2 9650,which might end up being called the Bold 9650, will launch around May. The new hardware will also include the "Push-To-Talk" option. No word on how much the new handset will cost. There is also no word on whether or not Sprint's model of the Tour will be included in the 5.0 and PTT upgrade, or whether or not the pin-dropping network will be getting the new hardware.

I had that idea years ago! all you need is a app to use the PTT, wonder how long till other blackberries will get the PTT love!

before the tour came out, i had been told by my corporate rep that the Sprint Tour was going to be qchat enabled, clearly that did not happen and they are also eliminating qchat phones cause it kills battery life, it will only be a matter of time before verizon gives up on PTT too

I'm pissed that Sprint gave up on qchat because this is the type of device I wanted, not an RIM though.

I'm ready for the new Bold / Tour, I'm also ready for the 5.0 VZW software to be released on the old Tour. My friend has the Tour on Sprint and already has it.

Vzw is usually the last to upgrade software
