Am I the only one that thinks it's SUPER FUNNY that a Blackberry device doesn't have an email app ???

OK people. . . let's all get a clue.

1. you can use the browser for any web mail--gmail, hotmail, yahoo, etc. . . which most of us probably use.
2. there are and will be more third party email clients. . . . think about that for a minute.
3. unlike other tablets and smartphones RIM has exceptional security for their email and want to make sure that they do it right on their NEW OS for the PlayBook. . .

so stop your bitching and get over it.

Third party email and web-based email pales in comparison to the Blackberry Email Technology they are known for. Why on earth would RIM release any device without their patented email capabilities?

Sure they are concerned with security, but what do they have to lose by spending a little extra time in perfecting their device? It's not like they need to rush this out to win customers- they are already late to the tablet game.

I, along with many other people, were very excited to hear about the Playbook. Once I found out it was not releasing with the native email and BBM, I lost total interest. Until they fix this problem, I will not buy this.

Bad move RIM... and, GetOverIt, you are a moron

i think they rushed an incomplete tablet to the market to not be left behind. Im sorry, but as an exec, i would have pushed it back a month to make sure it was complete and get the biggest "launch bang" i could. Instead they launch an incomplete product that is lacking in the most fundamental blackberry functions there is. And its a laughing joke. They have only shot themselves in the foot.

I think its time for new management of RIM. Years of these out of touch wackos is sinking the company.

Now that we all have a clue.....

Allow me just to jump on the bandwagon- You release a tablet you have been bragging about and dropping hints about since late last year. From what most of the chatter heard from the "crackberry" crowd, it is going to be the basis of the next upgrade to your OS as well as the hardware blueprint for next set of phones. Every consumer, even ones who do not own or want Blackberry devices, are hoping you succeed. The first thing that happens when you release it?

"Well, in couple more months, we will send you an upgrade...."

So, in a couple more months, you could have released it with all the good stuff? Hmmmmmm..... no mental problems with THESE decisions.

RIM is a company who makes its money from email. Walk into any cell phone store and ask for a BlackBerry. I can promise you the salesman/women will ask you if you do a lot of emailing.

The fact that RIM A) can't release a tablet on time (this was announced well before even the Samsung Galaxy Tab) and B) they can't even get the one app on it that you would expect to see from RIM tells me that this company is going downhill very, very quickly. If you own RIM stock, sell it while its high

And the PlayBook is... too little, too soon.

Maybe it was RIM's attempt to move some of their handsets at the same time?
