Look at that price tag though. Besides, MetroPCS is a prepaid carrier (since it requires no contract) and really, I don't see why a prepaid customer would need a smartphone in the first place. After all, prepaid are for people that either don't use their phone often, or people who do use their phone often, but don't want to commit to a contract.

Good point, but there are some types of customers that would do it, not many, but some. For instance! What about the latino gentleman I just had in, he WANTED a blackberry with data on a prepaid and had the money too but there is no prepaid blackberry plan! It may carve out a niche.

Hm, you do you have a point there Legion. For example, now that Boost Mobile is all about iDEN, there's no reason they can't offer a prepaid iDEN Blackberry with their new $50 Unlimited plan. Hm, this could lead to the smartphone market also reaching the prepaid market. BRILLIANT!!! =D

yea, this would be the only time where getting cell insurance is considered a smart move...

As a MetroPCS sales rep, I've been waiting for this day for pretty much ever. You have no clue how many customers come in asking when Metro is going to get a Black Berry or touchscreen. Anyway, $450 seems reasonalble, seeing how there is no contract, and trust me, ppl will pay that. Plus my AR told us that there will be a data plan probably bundled with the 50 plan. Oh yea, just want to clear something up, Metro is only 'prepaid' as in you pay before your month, not after, you're not paying for minutes, so it isn't like the typical 'prepaid' services.

Basically, prepaid means 'no contract.' There are different ways prepaid carriers handle their plans, such as Virgin Mobile offering PAYG and monthly plans. MetroPCS just offers the monthly plans. But, since there is no contract, it's still prepaid. It's basically the same as Cricket.

Yea, pretty much, though you can sign up for month to month, no contract with T-mobile... oh yea, and uh I was wrong with the bundled BB data plan. I just read it up top and on the Metro site, but still $10, plus the 50 plan... $70 a month for unlimited talk and BB data is pretty decent.

i have metropcs and only pay $50 a month for unlimited everything.i was going to switch to sprint but they charge $99.99 plus a bunch of other fees for the same thing i get at metro for $50.00.i heard that the samsung instinct was headed to metro at the end of this month.

I think it was ultimately a stupid move. It doesn't work on the new AWS 1700 band. So their potentially cheating themselves by not making it available to customers in their new markets, and customers in old markets will have to use expensive traveltalk if they visit one of these new markets.

Hello Jyakotu, I have had metropcs for 5 years! and have saved over $12,000.00. As a mortgage broker my at&t bills were over $200.00 a month!, with Metropcs, forjust $50.00 dollars I had unlimited national minutes! I took the 12k to the bank! How is that for a Smart phone? While you had your smart phone I had my cake and ate it too! Thank you METRO! I will for ever be your customer!
