BlackBerry 9670 clamshell pictured, running new OS

The BlackBerry 9670 clamshell has a much different look than the recent models we have seen from RIM. A bit awkward looking, this could be the Ugly Duckling that turns into a swan. The device will apparently be loaded with the new BlackBerry 6 OS. One problem is that RIM hasn't even introduced the device yet. Considering the strong visual capabilities of the new OS, you might expect the first model to sport the new Operating System to be a touchscreen or a combination touch/QWERTY handset like the also unannounced 9800 slider. Besides the new software, we can see that RIM is also experimenting on hardware as BlackBerry has to go up against a strong line-up of upcoming Android models and most likely a new iPhone model later this year. So what's the verdict on the clamshell. Is it still BlackBerry enough for the pinstriped set?

I can see the appeal for some (especially those that like to pocket their phones), but the overall form factor seems like a waste of real estate to me.

Hope this phone isn't anything like the original Flip 8220. That thing was full of problems.

This thing doesn't look as bad as it did in those other leaked shots; and yes, there is always going to be a hunger for flips in this country, so why not?
