Those who rely on Skype and have purchased, or will purchase the BlackBerry Z10, can't be terribly pleased with the message that Skype has written on its blog. Saying that BlackBerry 10 users will soon be able to download and use Skype, the next line gives away the secret. "We are working closely with BlackBerry to ensure the Skype for Android app runs great in the BlackBerry 10 environment." And while some might shrug their shoulders, Android apps do not perfectly translate over to BB10 especially since the version of Android used is about two years old; eventually BlackBerry hopes to support Android 4.1 apps.

This version of Skype for BlackBerry will soon becoming to BlackBerry World. For those unfamiliar with Skype, it offers free Skype-to-Skype video and phone calls. For calls, SMS and IMs made to non Skype mobile or landlines, the pricing is cheaper than the big guys (not that Skype is small, mind you). BlackBerry Z10 users will be able to video chat using BBM to other BlackBerry 10 users, but that is a small drop in the bucket compared to the number of potential people reachable via Skype's video chat capabilities.

Better than nothing. I dont see a problem with this as long as it works as good as it does on Android.

It does not work good on Android.

I haven't had any trouble with it on Android. It manages my group conversations nicely and I can make voice calls on it fine. Cant speak for video calls, never had a need for it honestly.

I hope it's only temporary situation. Native apps are always better than an Android port.

Blackberry needs to have as many (or at least the most used ones) cross-platform Messaging apps in their BB10 ecosystem if they want BB10 to be a success.
