nice no more complaining from customers saying that we are the most expensive carrier : )

And... AT&T is sure to follow, as they always do. Good for me!!

3. jovel16 posted on 14 Jan 2010, 14:01

yeah they still are the most greediest! Why should consumers be forced to get a data plan if they won't be using those features. I just find handsets like the enV3 requiring one - it clearly shows VZ's insatiable appetite for money. I know other carrier's might follow the same suit.....but it's unfair to the consumer! We deserve better.

it will get people to use their phones to the full potential. :-)

7. EraserXIV posted on 14 Jan 2010, 14:09

i hope that's sarcasm... because this has to be the most draconian policies i have ever seen. MANDATORY DATA PLANS FOR ANY 3G CAPABLE PHONE? are you fucking serious? so now if you want the env3, you are required to pay an additional $9.99 for a data plan that you are NOT going to use? that's fucking ridiculous. these phones don't even allow you to properly experience the web. please Verizon, don't brag about anything until you reach the $79.99 Unlimited Data, Voice, Text that T-Mobile has. i don't see how they have anything to be proud of when one of their own slides show that Sprint and T-mobile are MUCH more affordable.

@Eraser VZW has to recoup their money from Data Hogs looking at porn on their Drooooids!

9. phoneguy posted on 14 Jan 2010, 14:27

Still more expensive, since almost all phones require some sort of a data plan. these pp dont inlcude data.

porn websites don't work well on the droid...there a million for the iphone but only 3 websites that work on the droid. :-)

@vzw fanman LOL I guess my co-worker has different kind of Droid than yours!

who do you mean???

24. CRICKETownz posted on 14 Jan 2010, 17:26

According to reviews the Nexus One is already showing signs of poor 3G performance on T-Mobile's network...so obviously, cheaper isn't always better. That's always been Verizon's push. Companies like Sprint or T-Mobile HAVE to do something to be competitive so they slash prices. How much sense does it make to pay $3/mo (exaggeration) for unlimited everything if your cellphone, which is supposed to be mobile, is crippled and doesn't perform well on the go like it should? Kinda defeats the purpose, I think...but bring on the cheaper plans with terrible HSPA+ coverage.

28. mkl4466 posted on 14 Jan 2010, 22:03

You pay for coverage. Some people would rather spend a little more to actually have 3g signal. That 79.99 unlimited calls and text and web plan might as well not include web where I live. Tmobile hardly has any signal at all, some towns have no Tmobile towers at all, and we won't see 3g around here till God knows when. For $20 more a month a VZW customer has unlimited calls, text, and 25mb of data, and 3g signal to actually USE those MBs. Verizon won't ever be cheaper than Tmobile until one of two things happens: Verizon chops their network down, getting rid of half of their towers (we know that won't ever happen) OR Tmobile adds enough towers to actually compete with Verizon on coverage and ups their plan costs accordingly (again, never gonna happen). We have a choice to make...Money or signal. Which do you value more?

30. mkl4466 posted on 14 Jan 2010, 22:19

Yes, it does seem greedy to require people to add a data feature, but can you really say anything about an "insatiable appetite for money" when they just made the unlimited talk plans waaaay cheaper? Now you can have an unlimited talk and text plan, PLUS a $9.99 data package, for the same price that you would have paid for just unlimited minutes. Where's the greed in that? So basically you take the good with the bad. The people on low minute plans who don't use data won't appreciate the change, but they can get a smooth or an intensity. The people who need a ton of minutes will really appreciate the change, because even after adding a data plan they are still saving money. You can't please everyone all the time. Verizon is trying to please the high tier customer. Can you blame them for making a more attractive offering for customers who are willing to spend more money per month?

ya i like it.

6. InstinctDemon posted on 14 Jan 2010, 14:07

They forgot to add on the Advantages area that Sprint offers Any Mobile/Any Time for non Unlimited Plans AND Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Sprint Radio, Tethered Texting, Visual Voicemail, (On certain phones) NASCAR and NFL at no additional charge, the other carriers charge you extra for those features. :)

What is tethered texting?

14. InstinctDemon posted on 14 Jan 2010, 15:05

You see how the comments are going along the main screen? Tethered Texting is the same concept, rather than opening a separate window for each text. Does that make sense?

17. Fanboys Suck posted on 14 Jan 2010, 15:24

AKA- Threaded.
