Big Red offering magenta-tinged deals

0. phoneArena 09 Feb 2014, 15:26 posted on

While not every new deal offered by Verizon, Sprint or AT&T has its genesis with T-Mobile's UNcarrier offerings, we're pretty sure that Legere and crew is putting pressure on the other three carriers to make some pro-consumer moves. A few days ago, we showed you a leaked Verizon document revealing a $100 bill credit that the mobile operator would give to those activating a new line with a two-year contract. That deal ends February 17th...

It's never worth trading in a phone. I sold my S4 on VZW and had the buyer try getting me down to the trade in value, I said no way and he still paid my asking price.

Trade-in prices are insane. Almost a year ago I checked trade-in value on my Droid Bionic and they offered me something around $30!

Unfortunately, true! Last year I tried to trade in my old iPhone 4 and Verizon only offered me $25, even though it was a Verizon-branded iPhone. So, I tried to sell it on Craigslist but could only get an offering of $75 iBucks in the form of an iTunes magical Gift Card. I decided to keep it since, it's still a GREAT iPod; sure the camera SUCKS and I need binoculars to see the screen but, I don't use it that way - it's just a music player with my favorite DJ Pro App by Algoriddm. Maybe one day I'll go to India and sell it for 1 Billion Rupees.

Some carriers just do what they do best - ripping people off. Then they call it a sale. xD

Typical B.S. at Verizon, no surprise here.

They remind me of those trolls or whatever that handle the money in the Harry Potter movies...that's what it looks like at their offices out in Maryland...

Verizon does not get it...The offer is still not appealing. Even if they offered a fair price for my phone, I would be stuck with their expensive tiered data plan for two years if I used the rebate toward a new phone. That trumps any one time low-balled offer for my phone. Any gains from them buying my phone is lost in the added costs for using their service.

Hmm, $83 for my 32GB Verizon S3 & $5 for my old Incredible. For those prices I'd use them as target practice first.

Do yourself a favor, and NEVER use a trade in site or store to get money for you smartphones. They will never pay you an amount close to what you can get by selling it yourself. go to the sitewww.swappa.com and it will change how you buy and sell phones. They make it easy, safe, and enjoyable.

I'm surprised actually because they offered me $325 for my iPhone 5. Though I'm sure that if I turned it in, they'd find something wrong with it and lower that value. I hope they do something like this in June when I am eligible to upgrade...totally tired of iOS and can't wait to get back on Android.
