Big Red hits 1 million Storm units sold
A few days ago, we informed you that the BlackBerry Storm has sold 500,000 units through Verizon for its first month on the shelves. According to Computerworld, which quotes Verizon officials, the current number of sold units now counts 1,000,000. Now this really gives us a proof that RIM’s product is heading for a profitable life-span.

Against all odds, having in mind the current economic threats, combined with the negative welcome that the Storm has went through, Verizon Wireless once again proves its appropriate marketing line, with a winner in its hands.

Wow, the only thing more astonishing to me than the 1 Million sold statement is the fact I actually read a positive "article" on phonearena.com regarding the Storm. I state this because phonearena.com is obviously Apple Iphone fan boys. Goes to show you that numbers don't lie.

took the post right out of my head LOL and this is just US numbers, worldwide we have sold over 2.6 million, which is what I was expecting for this device Best touch screen smartphone out there IMO.

Just be happy for blackberry and Verizon. You guys don't always have to put a negative spin on everything.

The numbers don't lie...but with the negative press the Storm has gotten, I am still surprised at the numbers. Bad product or not...if they can sell 1 million units, Kudos to them.

can you imagine the numbers Storm would of had if the economy was'nt the way it was...

Also iPhones... and any other phone out there... thinking outside the outside of the box... ;)

I'm waiting for the BB Niagara. I'm still using my decrepit LG 8100 because I refuse to buy the Storm. I love VZW but I hate typing on the Storm. I've borrowed it from friends and it is seriously lackluster. It's not worth the investment. It doesn't cease to amaze me how belligerent people get when someone has a negative OPINION about the device. To the folks that get angry at a negative OPINION about BB, let me ask you this-Is BlackBerry putting food on your table? Are you getting a check? Why do you care whether someone favors one device over another? Granted, I would imagine that the people getting angry at subjective reviews are probably the "my life is soooo unfair" teenagers, but c'mon... Seriously folks, c'mon. I've seen my share of crazies, but wow!

The problem I've seen and that I find frustrating is that when I come on here to read an objective review of a product that I am considering whether to buy or not I want to read about the facts, not someone's obnoxious opinion. A person's opinion is already told through the facts that they are reporting on. In the Blackberry Storm review the entire article was one big bash fest. Personally, after playing with the phone plenty of times I don't think it is nearly as bad as they make it out to be. I don't think its the best on the market, but it definately has its good sides and its bad sides. A lot of it comes down to personal preference. But I find it annoying when someone writes a review and the entire review is them bashing the phone and making fun of it.

well, actually, yes, the storm puts food on my table. i make more money off selling a storm than i do a samsung u340 by far! :) guess that killed that arguement.. go storm! LOL :)

40. tribilinaNYC posted on 31 Jan 2009, 21:21

So, I take it you work for RIM since VZW employees make money off of the contracts, not the handsets...in which case, no, you wouldn't make money off of the samsung u340...there goes that argument...maybe you shouldn't write posts past your bedtime...
