Big News: Report says 5.5 inch Samsung GALAXY Note II coming to Verizon
0. phoneArena 09 Sep 2012, 19:44 posted on
Verizon customers did not have a shot at the Samsung GALAXY Note and when the sequel was announced, it wasn't clear if Big Red would be getting the son of phablet; a leaked screenshot shows the SCH-i605 which is said to be Verizon's version of the Samsung GALAXY Note II...

Ok this is looking so GREAT for me. I am DEFINITELY looking at a phablet this year. To me it's between this mystery HTC phablet with the 1080p HD screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note II, the LG Optimus G & the new Google Nexus'.
This year where it's at is Verizon. The BEST 4G LTE coverage with the worlds hottest & best phones. Looks like Christmas is coming early to Verizon & I can't wait to get my hands on all these devices to see what is truly the BEST phone of 2012.

Verizon had to get the Note II if it wanted to reamin the best wireless company. Im with AT&T and I cant wait for the Note II to be released.
I said months ago that Verizon had to get the Note, but the Note II would make it more noticeable. Im not biased when it comes to "who gets what phone" or "who has the best coverage" because its about preference
41. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 3394; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
I agree with you about preference, BUT overall it's very well understood that Verizon hands down has the best 3G & 4G LTE coverage in America.
I have been with Sprint, AT&T, & Verizon has the best coverage hands down in BOTH my travels in the U.S. & where I live. Also Verizon has the most 4G LTE coverage, more than all other carriers in the U.S. combined.

Every carrier has an advantage and disadvantage over the other so it depends on how much crap you're going to deal with lol!!!

There is no more truthful comment than that. lol

Verizon's Galaxy Nexus getting Jelly Bean would be better news.
6. eDiesel (Posts: 141; Member since: 17 Mar 2012)
Verizon collapsing would top all of that news.
8. fanboy1974 (Posts: 814; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
As a Verizon Nexus owner you should already have Jelly Bean. If you have enough energy to complain then you have enough energy to do it yourself. Ultimately it's Verizon fault that official Jelly Bean is not released yet. Don't blame it on Google or Samsung.
36. TheRetroReplay (Posts: 227; Member since: 20 Mar 2012)
I am blaming it on Verizon, I shouldn't HAVE to root, my carrier should be rolling out updates in a timely fashion. That is my point, I should NOT HAVE to root, I know how to do it, but I should NOT HAVE to do it.
19. N.Reynolds (Posts: 231; Member since: 15 Feb 2011)
Put your Nexus to use how a Nexus device is supposed to be use. Root it. Then you will be able to get Jelly Bean for it.
37. TheRetroReplay (Posts: 227; Member since: 20 Mar 2012)
But the point is, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO ROOT. My carrier should update the device in a timely manner.
The fact that I should not have to root seems to go over everyone's head.

so what's your point? if you want JB, get JB. do you think there's not GSM Nexus owners that are rocking AOKP, MIUI or CM10 ROM's out there?
29. zackh121556 (Posts: 98; Member since: 01 Feb 2012)
lol I have a Verizon Galaxy nexus now...but its one of the ones that keep loosing signal....ill have it replaced soon. but not sure if jelly bean will ever come to it! or maybe im just tired of waiting so long...
44. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
yeah, i'm thinking my mom's will have to be replaced too.

Best news of the decade! Besides the New iPhone having a larger screen, of course. I just Kareemed in my drawers.

Nothing like having to decide between the Note II and HTC's competitor. Both of them on VZW! Decisions, decisions.

This is what we should expect from SS after GS3: any flagship device will be available from all major carriers unchanged.
5. The_Godfather (Posts: 146; Member since: 26 Apr 2012)
Good for them as people in States can have this device from Tech Giant ----> Samsung.
7. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
but of course. i would expect the western launch of the Note II to mirror that of the SIII's. Samsung bringing it with 2GB of RAM and their Exynos 4412 along with LTE/HSPA+ connectivity is nothing short of a great move. my Dad will probably go from his MAXX to this but the court is still out for me since i really don't want a Phablet. so far it's looking like it's between the Razr HD duo for me unless a Motorola Nexus reels it's head in which case i'll be getting that.

Hey King, so here's the deal: No excuses, I said a while back that if something like this comes to fruition, I would owe you a public apology. So just to let you know, and I don't know how many people keep up with what you have to say, but if Verizon does officially get the Note 2, then I owe you an apology. If Verizon gets that mystery HTC device, then I owe you an apology. The LG INtuition doesn't count because lets be honest, it's not in the same league as the other 2. I'm a man of my word. I still think that your attitude is rather cocky in more ways than one but that is irrelevant when it comes to this subject matter.
30. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
that was rather gracious of you Wildmanfan and i would accept your apologies. yeah, nobody cares about the Intuition, it's the Phablet adopted stepchild. well if you can find it in yourself to make a public apology then i'm sure i can find it in myself to keep my attitude in check. c:

Not sure what happened between the 2 of you (bromance gone bad, perhaps :) ), but I'm guessing this is a case of hating on a man for just for being good at his trade. Kurog sure seems to know what he's talking about. We all have our own opinions as to what we like, so disagreements are going to happen. But Kurog has his facts straight. AND, the man will help a brother out when asked. He's shared his advice when I asked for it. We're all a family of phone dorks here. Let's embrace that fact and be civil and respectful with each other. As Jesus would say, "Don't hate. Congratulate."
46. Wildmanfan (Posts: 217; Member since: 15 Jul 2010)
King, I promised you an apology and I will deliver for sure. I wouldn't break that for you. But when I really think about it, it doesn't make sense because here you have the Intuition, the Note 2, and the HTC 5" phablet. There's just too much competition. The reason why I think the Note 1 did so well is that AT&T didn't really give it's subscribers a choice. Whereas, Verizon is going to give their subscribers many choices.
But you do have to give AT&T a certain amount of credit for having the gall or brass to introduce something innovative like that.
Now I'm torn. My Samsung Fascinate on VZW is on it's last legs. I need a phone now. I was thinking about getting the Note 1 on AT&T off ebay, not signing a contract, and then getting the Note 2 when it comes out. OR, getting a VZW phone from ebay to hold me off till the end of the year, and then getting one of the phablets. I don't know.

For the record, your attitude is alright. No worries man.

Is that the best post u could come up with.
13. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
this phone has 0 chance of being banned by Apple. comparing the Note to the iPhone would be like comparing a Stove to a Microwave.
20. PAPINYC (Posts: 1834; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
Yeah, but which one's the stove? And, does the microwave come with the integrated toaster?
31. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
hmmm, which phone would the bigger appliance that provides one with more sustenance than the other one be i wonder? nope, just a simple Microwave.

OH MY GOD!!!! FINALLY! Finally Verizon pulls their heads out of their asses and has some truly amazing phones come out this year, Motorola screwed up their smartphone line up after the OG DROID but is making a good come back with the Razor HD MAXX and Samsung is having a truly phoenominal year with the GS3 and now the note coming to Verizon is awesome! I was so pissed when Verizon felt they were too good for the Note so now that they are basically admitting defeat in agreeing to carry the Note 2 truly makes my day! I was going to get the GS3 but now I will wait patiently for the Note 2! :)
14. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
you guys have just got to realize that Verizon burst shoots their major releases into the Holiday season while everybody else spreads them throughout the year.
17. Sniggly (Posts: 6195; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
The Droid X was good. Didn't hear good things about the Droid 2 though. They screwed up for half a year with the X2 and Droid 3.
Since the Razr/Maxx they've been doing quite well, quality wise. Wish they released a strong lineup on the other carriers, but that probably won't happen until Verizon drops the voodoo curse they have on them.
18. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5424; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
as an owner of most of those phones I'll tell you the Droid 2 was a'ight but the Droid 3...I LOVED my Droid 3, fantastic phone it was for me. even now owning a Razr I still miss it. the only phone you mentioned that I think was bad is the X2. totally trash move from Motorola but I kind of get it. they wanted to get something out there to compete quick since they were behind on their work with LTE implementation at the time so they put out Verizon's first dual-core phone.

24. nicholassss (Posts: 341; Member since: 10 May 2012)

25. brandonlagana (Posts: 1; Member since: 09 Sep 2012)
i'm afraid to get an android because i have an iphone ! has anyone ever switch from iphone to android and thought it was better?
26. Sniggly (Posts: 6195; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
You'll probably get a lot of "yeses" on that one, as well as the other way around.
What do you like about your iPhone? What don't you like?
49. Owlet (Posts: 444; Member since: 21 Feb 2011)
Yes, you most likely will like Android better. Unless you already have a preconceived idea that you won't. Give it a fair try, use it for about a week, you'll see how much more it can do and with a lot more fun in the process. If you don't like it, just return it, it's easy. You'll like it though. Get a good brand though, not something cheap and unknown.

When you make a mistake, they wont miss out on it this time.
32. skymitch89 (Posts: 924; Member since: 05 Nov 2010)
"By end of the year" means that it could come out any time between now and Dec 31. As of right now, the Galay Note 2 is a bit a head of the time with its specs, but if it doesn't come out until end of the year it might be behind a version of Android. It doesn't really matter to me when it comes out though because I'm considering it as my next device.

Resilience would grab me even more. Adding a case to this already oversized load just so it can survive drops? Bah. Let me know when Moto makes the thing.

The first question about the Samsung Galaxy Note II : Who carries it?
ANS: Just about everyone. At least 5 US carriers, so far.
The next big question now remains:
Which of the carriers which will have the Note 2 will cripple it the LEAST? And BLOATWare is a form of crippling.
50. Owlet (Posts: 444; Member since: 21 Feb 2011)
But you can disable the bloatware since ICS.
51. juvane (Posts: 5; Member since: 16 Sep 2012)
Samsung is a joke. How hard is it to publish carries and release dates? I am no fan of Apple but at least they treat their customers with a little respect. Apple: announce new phone, announce pre-order, announce release date. All done within a day of announcement. I am not quite sure what Samsung is trying to do with this mystery announcement. Maybe the Note 2 is far from ready and they should not have announced it so early???
