Wonder if that same glitch is in the system from the last netbook offer (that you can buy the netbook, cancel the service, and keep the netbook with no additional fees).

Not sure who would ever buy it full price. Here's what I would do....buy it with Sprint for $1. Wait 31 days and call up Sprint to cancel the service; pay the ETF of course...$1 + $200(ETF) + $60(1st month) + $35(act fee) = $296. Still better than $389.99!

Either way it's still a piece. I've tried using a friends netbook and it's frustrating slow. These things are for kids.
