Besides dual-core, Samsung Galaxy S2 might also be the thinnest smartphone

Dual-core Orion chipset, 4.3" Super AMOLED Plus display, and razor thin body will be the features to sell in the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S2. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread phone is to be announced in 3 weeks at the MWC in Barcelona...

Ok so it will be available this summer with Gingerbread- alas Honey comb and maybe even Ice cream will be out by then. Samsung will come up with a new phone by year end and never offer to upgrade the operating system. so if you buy it in July you better plan to keep it for a few years with an old operating system- and watch HTC and Moto. phones of the same vintage get Ice Cream and Jelly bean Android.

actually it will go on sale in march. honeycomb is for tablets only for now, the ice cream update will be pretty minor. i haven't heard of a single manufacturer that is not having troubles updating their handsets to the newest version. everybody is just learning to use android and plan their updates, it will pass with time, it's not a reason enough not to buy awesome hardware... unless, of course, the next iPhone is more awesome :-)

I understand phones are supposed to be thin enough to the point of being comfy but why make a super thin phone it's going to break under various types of stress why would anyone buy a phone that someday may be as thin as a sheet of paper? idk as for Samsung I think they make wonderful products but what's the point if instead of releasing updates they make the customers buy another phone just to enjoy new features example: 2.1= 2.2 I'v been waiting for the update on my Vibrant to long!!! it's not fare that HTC phones get better treatment just because android started with HTC

HTC isnt any better at updates than Samsung, or motorola for that matter. they all suck. there is also no garuntee that any phone will be updated, nor as a consumer should u think that you are entitled to any updates other than the one the phone came with.. unless expressly told so by the manufacturer, not a sales rep. The galaxyS was promised 2.2 by samsung out of the gate, so the frustration is justified, but i wouldnt expect any further updates.
The phone manufacturers are in the business of selling phones, so why wouldnt u expect them to keep launching new phones? You dont think that internally they are already 2-4 phone generations ahead? Because they are. We are talking about galaxyS 2 specs while they are readying galaxyS 4 specs and roadmaps.

When Sony Ericsson CEO states: life time support for the x10..... i expect proper, timely and ongoing updates. Not one update and then wash your hands of its existence.

"The resolution stays the same 480x800 pixels, but Samsung has ditched the PenTile matrix arrangement, and now we have three subpixels for each pixel, which should make the image even more detailed."
Huh? First off, the PenTile matrix had 5 subpixels, not 3. And secondly, how does having more subpixels make an image more detailed?

"The PenTile RGBW uses one third fewer subpixels for the same resolution as the RGB Stripe (RGB-RGB) layout" From Wikipedia....
Actually a Pentile display uses less pixels for the "same" resolution and that is noticed specially when displaying text.

For God sakes Samsung, can we have a working (not half assed) GPS support??
And please fix the Galaxy S lag while you're at it!

800x480? No thanks. Its fucking 2011 and this phone isn't going to be released until summer. The iPHone has had the crown in highest resolution for a long ass time. I really think its time to bump up the res to 720p.

Resolution doesn't matter so much, they've improved the pixel density so you get even sharper images.
