Benchmark comparison: Galaxy S4 vs Galaxy S III vs Note 2 vs Optimus G Pro vs Nexus 4 vs HTC One
0. phoneArena 04 Apr 2013, 09:37 posted on
What could be more exciting than a benchmark comparison starring six of the best smartphones in the world?! Well, a lot of things, probably... but NOT when one of these smartphones is the one and only Galaxy S4! It's not really a secret that the GS4 is an amazing performer when it comes to benchmarks, but hey, it never hurts to give some perspective to its scores by comparing it to more and more Android smartphones. That's exactly what we've done here, so behold – the Galaxy S4 torches those benchmarks alongside the GS III, Note 2, Optimus G Pro, Nexus 4, and its biggest rival, the HTC One...

True and I think gs4 will perform much more better than other competitors(HTC one) despite of these competitive benchmarks with HTC..
21. sheik (Posts: 249; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
I expect so... My doubt is that with gazillion of sensors and a 1080p display which consumes the battery juice 8 times faster than other LCD displays while showing white colors, will it last long enough for a day? ... lets hope it performs well...
25. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
You can see the battery review of s4 on gsmarena.. Its best compared to all.. But HTC one wins in Web browsing category by small margin..
35. sheik (Posts: 249; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
they set the display of the both phones to maximum brightness while running web browsing tests. If you see the display review of s4 on gsmarena, you will know that 70% of brightness level of HTC One equals the 100% brightness of S4. That's an unfair advantage given to galaxy s4 over HTC One. So, In real world usage the battery performance of HTC one will be so much better!!
45. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
Okay.. I didn't think that way though.. I got your point but I won't judge until I check both by myself..your point is creditable :).. But still carrying an extra battery for s4 may not be much heavy for many users..
54. sheik (Posts: 249; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
Not to mention its expandable memory storage, latest jelly bean, etc.. S4 is a great device... My point was it should not only be judged by some artificial benchmarks..

I broke it down for you guys, trying to be as unbiased as possible.
Egypt T-Rex QS AnTuTu HTML5 Metal ISE Graphics Physics Total

Haha .so true & in most of the cases s4 got its ass kicked....cheap plastic!
22. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
Lol.. That was just the snapdragon version and still they win.. Haters will cry when the comparison is done with exynos version..
81. yudi.nemesis (Posts: 1127; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
haters will lough when the comparison is done with S800 or TEGRA 4
138. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
That would be the time for note 3 to come by then.. :)
143. yudi.nemesis (Posts: 1127; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
haha you can't read my comment i am talking about processor
no matter what the device S800 or TEGRA 4 is better than Exynos 5 octa
153. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
I am talking about the processor.. Sammy will definitely keep exynos octa clocked in such a way in note 3 that will again be on the top.. I don't think s800 or tegra 4 will beat the upgraded version of exynos 5octa that would be on note 3 but I think apple's a7 would be great.. By that time A7 and note 3's octa would always be on hot news..
158. yudi.nemesis (Posts: 1127; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
clocked in such a way hmm...
Please open your eyes and accept the reality!!!
Exynos 5 octa clocked at 1.8 GHz scored 27000+
Tegra 4 with max clock speed 1.9 GHz is scored 36000+
just imagine how fast if Tegra 4 have higher clock speed
the only hot news is when S800 or Tegra 4 beat samsung 8 core
38. kclgphilsbsa (Posts: 762; Member since: 21 Jan 2013)
and again, cheap plastic.. can u educate urself that polycarbonate is better than aluminum and glass (coz sapphire isnt yet available in handsets)!!,
hatred really starts to bloom so humongous after losing smartphone battles in reviews,,

benchmark aren't everything? Are you sourgraping? enjoy your inferior HTC one...
36. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
You are already back to Samsung :p.. I thought you disliked the s4 :p..
43. sheik (Posts: 249; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
I dont have a HTC one to enjoy, and i dont support htc One you $tup!d troll. If you ask any tech nerd they will tell you that a under clocked single core Windows phone(with a poor benchmark score of course) will perform so much smoother than a higher clocker dual core android counterparts. Its all about optimization now...
50. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
I prefer s4 because I believe that Samsung has optimized it very well.. And I doubt HTC one in this department.. But who knows things can be opposite than what I feel..
61. wendygarett (unregistered)
This is just a gross result, please ask pa to trim away all the ui in every phone and make it stock android and see, galaxy s4 for sure will crush HTC one and nexus 4!!!
116. gwuhua1984 (Posts: 1237; Member since: 06 Mar 2012)
The S4 in the benchmark is running the same processor as the HTC One. If we are to put stock Android on it... I'm sure the performance will be roughly the same, S4 probably wins by a bit due to higher clock. I probably won't say the same if the S4 was the 8 core version, but then again, there has been rumors/facts that not all 8 cores runs at once.
What made S4 really stand out this year from S3 is the software.

u seems to b paid by samsung for negative comments
63. bojan (Posts: 188; Member since: 06 Oct 2012)
benchmarks are which company pay more money.
55. amats69 (Posts: 966; Member since: 12 Nov 2012)
you have to look to all aspects before claiming that S4 is the king.
75. chistoefurpuffer (Posts: 139; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
I for one did, and clearly it is.
104. kclgphilsbsa (Posts: 762; Member since: 21 Jan 2013)
u smell more like a fanboy as what ive observed from ur past comments.. dealing with reviews and saying the different side of the results are more biased..
171. chistoefurpuffer (Posts: 139; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
Fanboyism? More like it clearly has better specs and features than any phone to date. I smell a butt hurt failure x:
109. chocolaking (Posts: 428; Member since: 22 May 2012)
NEXUS 4 KILLED Galaxy S4 (8 cores??) IN BENCHMARK EGYPT
NEXUS 4 SMOKED EVERYBODY IN BENCHMARK T-REX
HTC ONE IS PAR WITH S4(8 cores?) in Quadrant
HTC ONE tops the AnTuTu, S4 with 8 cores lost by slightly.
Optimus G topped Vellamo, Htc one came second.
But the Galaxy S4 with 8 cores didn't even came closed
I still think the S4 is a good phone. Maybe just not perfomed that well in these tests?
115. Nathan_ingx (Posts: 2992; Member since: 07 Mar 2012)
You must be joking!
For one, you didn't read the article properly. The SIV, here, is the variant with Snapdragon 600 (quad-core)...but yes, it still is an SIV.
People talk about how benchmark scores don't matter in real life performance, but when we compare our phones again in real life, we'll refer back to the benchmark scores. How much the other scored against the other one. It's all in our mind!
Benchmark scores are shown for reasons...that's why they're called 'benchmark'.
It might not show us how it will perform in real time but theoritically, we know which device is making good use of the hardware with proper software optimization.
I'm not a fan of SIV nor One but both are equally one of the most advanced phones out there. And saying SIV is the best or One is the best is an opinion of fanboy-ism.
141. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
Don't troll.. Its okay if you hate s4 but why lie..? That much scared with samsung? I know hating Samsung is much difficult because they win all the time and haters have no other options then to cry and lie.. Same case was seen with Apple before and now with Samsung.. If nokia/motorola becomes top again then people hate them the most and it goes that way..
176. buggerrer (Posts: 282; Member since: 21 Sep 2011)
You are correct sir. Almost always the MFG on top has committed the most evil, and therefore deserves my hate. For me the truth is I have always loved the look of Sense, and the functionality is usually not worse than stock-Android. Touch-Wiz is dumb and would be instantly replaced by a custom launcher. On the other hand, I've always hated phones with no SD/removable-batt, so S4 wins there. This article confirms to me that the performance of S4, One, and OP are all about the same as a G4, and that is more power than I probably need for the next 2 years, so all is equal. In the end, I just like the look of the HTC better (silver, not black).
PS: If you want $49 unlimited phone service, with the ability to make it pay YOU by getting $20/mo for every 3 referrals (6 for me so far, so my service is just $9/mo) check outwww.solavei.com/rpmccormick

In use no different btw s4 and one speed..both are great with no lag but why one is better:
-u can feel clear a solid phone when take it.
-u can feel clear sound when call with one
-u can feel reality color when see In lcd3
–u can feel a diamond technology and elegant when use sense 5
-u can feel best hdr recording with perfect sound
-u can feel that a in your hand when see one's design with perfect body
-u can feel bombastic sound when turn on its speaker
One all the way.
71. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Just make sure you don't drop your "solid" phone. LMAO!
Also natural colours is no longer an issue on SuperAMOLED.(http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-vs-htc-one-vs-apple-iphone-5-display-test-confirms-amoleds-can-finally-do-accurate-colors/)
"–u can feel a diamond technology and elegant when use sense 5
-u can feel best hdr recording with perfect sound
-u can feel that a in your hand when see one's design with perfect body"
Diamond technology? feel best HDR recording with perfect sound? Perfect body? Really?!
110. chocolaking (Posts: 428; Member since: 22 May 2012)
Dude, if you look at the screen on all galaxy 'Super AMOLED ' phones. The screen does not present real color. you can just tell.
S4 is an really disapointment piece of work .
it is really the nextbigflop! Lol
118. SleepingOz (unregistered)
We're not talking about all past SuperAMOLED here, we're talking about the one on the GSIV! Feel free to check the link I posted above before spewing such BS.
130. amiroo (Posts: 269; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
U can find better competition above your post in top of page..
Its clear super amould don't reach to perfect color as u mean..lcd3 and rotina is best.
134. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Dude this comparison isn't as refined as the one GSMArena carried, there isn't any technical information in it. Also the GSIV they reviewed is a pre-production unit. So fail! =]
Why don't you jus check the link I posted from GSMArena?
154. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
I still love super amoled plus of s2 and infuse.. Best screens so far..
126. amiroo (Posts: 269; Member since: 03 Sep 2012)
Oooh sorry cheap plastic with toys design with exaggerate color is king..its your mean it? Maybe if u want.
135. SleepingOz (unregistered)
"cheap plastic" that is sturdier and fare better in drop test than the so called "premium" aluminium of the HTC One. =]
"toys design" with bigger screen yet smaller body that is more comfortable(better ergonomics) to hold.
"exaggerate color" that GSMArena said to be better than the LCD panel of the HTC One.(Adope mode for natural colours and better sunlight visibility.)
Come with some valid arguments next time buddy. You're just embarassing yourself here.
87. Retro-touch (Posts: 248; Member since: 24 Oct 2011)
Your arguments for HTC One seem farfetched, its just a phone, you'll put it in a case anyway and when you do a bigger screen will be better,
165. johnriii (Posts: 221; Member since: 17 Oct 2011)
one would hope they would put it in a case, since it is a mini computer. how someone can carry any smartphone without one is beyond me. I usually buy my case within a week of getting my phone, if not sooner.
173. chocolaking (Posts: 428; Member since: 22 May 2012)
I actually don't put any cover or case on my phone. A lot of my friends don't use it.
the reason is because I always hold my respect to the phone designer.
67. chistoefurpuffer (Posts: 139; Member since: 11 Mar 2013)
Because of it's looks? I don't think so.
80. Rayanx10 (Posts: 45; Member since: 30 Mar 2013)
not because of the look i love everything about the HTC ONE
74. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Nopes, all the comparisons available between the One and the GSIV say otherwise. =]
78. lovenyc8 (Posts: 164; Member since: 13 Mar 2013)
who cares about tests all this websites they all get paid for reviews and fake tests. i only trust myself and i test my self don;t need some website to tell what is best with fake reviews that got paid with money

"Never trust reviews from professional tech websites that say that my favourite brands aren't the best! 'coz they are biased! My fav brands are always the best, no matter what!" Right?
Typical fanboy's behaviour!
90. lovenyc8 (Posts: 164; Member since: 13 Mar 2013)
you the fan boy here i'm not a fan boy i'm only saying the truth never trust anyone only yourself. i have samsung note 2 and i have iphone 5 and now i will get the HTC One i buy the phone that is the best at the moment don't care what company there from.
94. Rayanx10 (Posts: 45; Member since: 30 Mar 2013)
i have the note 2 its a great phone but its so last year and i will be getting the HTC ONE i want something fresh not the same phone all over like the s4 that is the s3 again
140. iushnt (Posts: 598; Member since: 06 Feb 2013)
When you start using the phone then you will only be looking at the screen.. I'm sure note 2 users will find HTC one funny as it is like beauty vs beast..beauty generally attracts females. I am sure by the end of this year people will be talking about s4, iPhone and note 3 and forget about htc one like last year (onex was lost by the end of the year) .. Even XZ have started fading out from topic so soon. Mark my words
100. SleepingOz (unregistered)
Better CPU/GPU, better performances, better ergonomics, better camera, better build quality(probably),bigger screen in smaller body, better screen(can finally display natural colours with better sunlight visibility according to GSMArena), latest Android version, more features, more sensors, NFC, expandable memory, removable battery
HTC One Pros:
Better looking phone(subjective), "premium" feel in hand(but very very poor build quality), louder stereo speakers
Yet according to your "unbiased" conclusion, HTC One is better and tech sites that say otherwise are the biased ones?! Fu*k logic!
172. gogowho (Posts: 37; Member since: 12 Mar 2013)
htc one has poor build quality. that is true and well known. more and more notice that. but you wont read it from websites. their machines are golden machine. besides, it's covered with plasic, too. it just makes you feel premium, but it is not.
111. chocolaking (Posts: 428; Member since: 22 May 2012)
That's exactly what you are doing right now. its LMFAO..
