Bear Grylls stars in the latest Samsung Gear S3 frontier commercial... he also eats a grub

Bear Grylls is the star of a new commercial for Samsung's Gear S3 frontier smartwatch. The British explorer, who is famous for showing off his epic survival skills on TV, demonstrates some of the key features of the more adventurous variant of Sammie's latest intelligent timepiece.

The device's barometer, water and dust resistance, altimeter, S Health and weather apps, and overall build are being put to test in the 90-second video, while at one point, Mr. Grylls also reminds us why his shows are so entertaining by doing what he does best – getting a taste of something truly disgusting, in this case a larva.

You can take a look at the advert above, and if you're interested in learning more about the Gear S3 frontier, make sure to check out our dedicated review for the smartwatch. No urine was consumed during our review, but the author Nick T. did an absolutely wonderful job of describing the timepiece:

...Made of stainless steel, the Samsung Gear S3 frontier is big and solid, with a manly look, and is noticeably on the heavy side. It wraps around the wrist with a thick rubbery band providing a tight, secure grip, further strengthened by a metal clasp. So if I were planning on spending a weekend in Bear Grylls’s company, this would be an ideal smartwatch to wear.

Prophetic!

Now the only thing you need to survive more than 3 days in the wilderness, is a power outlet ;)

3 days in the wilderness....unless you get lost or marooned in a deserted place/jungle , 3 days without power is close to non existent !

Small foldable solar panel does the job, as long as there is some light. I have one that easily charges two phones at the same time in direct sunlight. Can be attached to a bag or jacket even.

3 Days without power is pretty much existent. Go camping and there is no power. Go surviving and there is no power. Better stick to a regular watch if you go out in the wilderness.
