Ballmer: Android is wild, uncontrolled and malware prone; Apple is overpriced
0. phoneArena 14 Nov 2012, 23:56 posted on
When Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer was a little kid, was he not told that if you don't have something nice to say about someone, don't say anything? Instead, Ballmer had some unkind comments for both competitors although they were not anything new...

You going to bring back that Vietnamese model in your avatar too?

How in the world can he see Android as wild....and yet its the exact same scenario on desktop PC's with Windows....

Balmer isn't aware of the fact that windows mobile OS is fail. Somebody please help him show mirror.

The statement is not refer to the Google but refer to the geekdroid user like you... You should control your wildness for not rooting the innocent device my friend...

Oh look, the thumbnail photo is a new shot of Ballmer which I haven't seen before. And guess what? I want to punch him in the face now more than ever before.
40. wendygarett (unregistered)
I'm giving you a thumb up just to calm you down lol, not agree your statement as whole
44. Sniggly (Posts: 6470; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Were you here when that whole joke started? I don't think you were.
Basically, last October, I realized that the mere appearance of Steve Ballmer's face makes me want to punch it. It isn't helped that most shots of Ballmer are of him making weird expressions, and that he's been caught saying incredibly stupid things, such as saying that the iPhone and Android would never catch on.
48. wendygarett (unregistered)
I believe every CEO did that just to show their charismatic and talk biased just to make you pay attention... Remember when Steve job says about 'stolen product', remember when Tim cook says about surface is a confusing products? Then why didn't see you wanna punch them instead lol, just calm down, they are just a CEO :)
50. Sniggly (Posts: 6470; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
I already told you, the main factor is because Ballmer's face looks like something that needs to be punched.
51. wendygarett (unregistered)
Lol now I see it :)

For the next Christopher Nolan's Batman movie, he should cast Ballmer as the Penguin... You'll get to see his face get smashed in by the Dark Knight.

Seriously? Does he even know the definition of Malware? Security companies and most websites along with idiots are repeating the malware mantra over and over, once for all do learn that there is ZERO Android Malware. As always people are faking a PC term and applying it to the Android ecosystem. Android Malware doesn't exist, those are just rogue Apps and those are installed by the user and NOT automatically like their PC cousins. They require user intervention, hence one must be really stupid enough to press on 'install'. The average user wouldn't even enable 'Unknown Sources'. Android 4.2 takes it a step further and will prompt the user to verify any App which is to be installed.
Rogue Apps have Zero access to the low level system files, so they CANNOT 'infect' anything. If anyone disagrees please do point me to some other evidence to support your Android Malware theory, name me any Android rogue app that install itself automatically without user intervention & which conceals itself as a legitimate process or that does anything to access other resources outside the Dalvik VM just like regular PC malware would do.
Those who claim that Android has 'Malware', those are the same people who have ZERO clue about how the platform works inside out.
This is way too much, people don't know what crap they're sprouting nowadays. He's just pathetic, trolling and is so desperate. He resorted to criticizing since he cannot even compare his childish platforms to Android by the numbers.

thanks for clearing that up bro......Like i said in my last post........I have yet to be threatend by malware.............im guessing the only people that would encounter those problems would be those who are........doing what they're not supposed to be doing??
I downloaded tons of apps so far and not a problem arose....and just to be EXTRA safe i downloaded the app called "look out" .....so the term, prone to malware and wild and uncontrolled, seems to be a bit of an overstatement .........but i suppose this is only to "reinforce" his company and product.......so we cant really blame him for that......as its just marketing :)
65. yowanvista (Posts: 275; Member since: 20 Sep 2011)
Exactly, those who supposedly get infected as those who download shady Apps which often have weird names which are often faked games like Angry Birds bundled with some rogueware. Ballmer should really consider changing his strategy, criticizing a platform just to boost WP/W8 is foolish. He is too overconfident imho

I completely agree about his Apple comment, but bashing android like that just shows how desperately he wants the market to adopt windows. If only he'd just said the phone was susceptible to malware (windows phone is as well, just not as much as android) then that would've been okay, but WILD? I don't ever remember my Galaxy Note doing what I don't want it to do or vice versa. Actually, with all the rooting capabilities it makes ME feel in control. Which brings us to uncontrolled. This was a very lame move on Ballmer's behalf. Windows 8 is the worst OS I've ever used on my PC, windows phone 8 is cool, just not nearly as cool as android, and the surface has a lot of compromise to beat many of the great Android tablets out there, and even the iPad.
26. allen83 (Posts: 105; Member since: 01 Mar 2012)
Malware? Windows has more malware and software viruses issues even with Linux and Unix combined.
27. chronopc (Posts: 86; Member since: 18 Oct 2012)
Funny that the same company that is behind internet explorer (the most susceptible to virus browser ever) is calling Android unsecured.
Also since the Surface RT is same price as an iPad what does that say about the value of Microsoft products?
Maybe Ballmer should focus on getting more market share than RIM and Palm before taking on the big boys.
29. Shino (Posts: 159; Member since: 23 Jul 2012)
Actually I must agree with Ballmer. He is 100% right about Android and right about the high price of Apple products.
101. Zero0 (Posts: 561; Member since: 05 Jul 2012)
Other than Android's security features and the fact that anyone competent enough to operate a mobile device should be able to read permissions, yes, he's spot on. He also leaves out that the situation is much more dire on his own desktop OS, but we'll save that one for another day.
The iPad is overpriced, I agree, but Ballmer apparently ignores that the Surface RT and iPad are the same price, and if anything, the iPad is better.
102. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
lmao i love how when someone attacks both android and ios suddenly the android fans start giving props to apple products in an attempt to defend android........so transparent
besides all he has done is say exactly what all the fanboys on each side say about the other
but keep up with the mindless hate and need to defend your chosen os
104. jroc74 (Posts: 3952; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
Maybe you need to look at like this:
Android fans may be giving Apple products props....but are Apple fans giving Android products props?
Besides....Ballmer saying what the fanboys say doesnt look too good for him....as a CEO.
106. chaoticrazor (Posts: 2347; Member since: 28 Aug 2012)
no you see there only giving props when they wanna say the surface is s**t. in every apple article you get the android lot saying how crap apple products are..........nice try though trying to make the android seem fair and the apple lot biased. but there both as bad as each other recently
well what do you expect him to say really, sure i agree he's going abit far and running his mouth but he's not goona big up the competition is he...........every company does stuff like this
i just find it funny how the reaction from the supposed pro-tech choice open minded android lot is to attack and slate the products and in some cases i.e. 'troll'' he disrespects anyone who uses a differant os
33. bloodline (Posts: 686; Member since: 01 Dec 2011)
Is it me or is Google the only one who doesn't chat shi* about the competition and just gets on developing and building innovation
38. bohdan4ik13 (Posts: 81; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
And windows phone is the cheapest thing in the world ^_^
I think, that users just need to think before installing strange APK after clicking on the malware. And in Jelly Bean there is a system antimalware and antiwirus software. Tada!

I don't understand how people around this guy keep from punching him right in his clown face every time the buffoon opens his mouth. Just watching him on video makes me want to punch my screen.
61. Sniggly (Posts: 6470; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
I'm so glad I'm not alone in this feeling!
62. Raymond_htc (Posts: 430; Member since: 06 Apr 2012)
Well the Overpricing of apple products is true.. but as for android- it is somewhat true but not all the time...
74. pradeepkchauhan (Posts: 7; Member since: 08 Nov 2012)
Shut your f**king Mouth Steve Ballmer .......
77. plgladio (Posts: 311; Member since: 05 Dec 2011)
I hate Windows, now one more reason to go.
When your product is good show it or sell it in that way, not by saying they are bad.
That is not good marketing.
91. techguy22 (Posts: 226; Member since: 09 Aug 2012)
so locked down and closed OS is better *rolling my eyes*
talk sh*t when your market share reaches 10 % MS

I'd say that Windows Phone is a happy medium between Android and iOS. While Google lets the manufacturers (and carriers) tinker with the OS and Apple pretty much controls everything with iOS, Microsoft found common ground. I feel that Windows Phones has OEMs trying to make more unique designs, hence, why Nokia and HTC made phones in bright colors. Also, Nokia has their array of exclusive apps, as does HTC and Samsung. However, the UI is the same across all devices, which allows pretty much the same performance on all WP devices.
Also, I find it funny how Android users will comment on "choice" and "open," but I see comments on here about how they hate OEM skins and would prefer all phones have stock Android ICS/JB. Which is it? If Google demanded all OEMs to have stock and controlled all the updates, then it would be closed like Apple. It's interesting, to say the least. The fanboy wars are stupid anyway. Just purchase the phone and OS that YOU like. I'm honestly getting tired of Android and because I love Windows 8, I am seriously considering getting a Windows Phone 8 in the future.
Android users, if you're all about "choice," then why bash those who CHOOSE NOT to use Android, but prefer iOS, Windows Phone 8, Blackberry, and whatever other mobile OS there is out there? I just don't get it.
103. XPERIA-KNIGHT (Posts: 2384; Member since: 08 Aug 2012)
well said........well said .......to keep it simple we should just leave the Nexus phone as it is (stock)......and all other non nexus phones as they are (skins).....problem solved.......... or at least most of it is anyway :)
105. jroc74 (Posts: 3952; Member since: 30 Dec 2010)
I agree. Well said. I am among the few that actually likes the different OEM UI's. And IMO before Honeycomb, ICS, JB..... stock Android was too boring, plain for me.
All I can say is fanboys will be fanboys...for any product. You can usually tell the level headed, rationale users for Android, iOS, WP, etc.
108. Raymond_htc (Posts: 430; Member since: 06 Apr 2012)
Phone hating should stop. i agree with you.
107. Raymond_htc (Posts: 430; Member since: 06 Apr 2012)
One does not simply criticize on some other company's work and not finding out what themselves are bad at.
And this fool called BALL.mer does it.
109. bohdan4ik13 (Posts: 81; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
With WP7 Microsoft made an effort to compete with iOS. It was simple and with many restrictions, but zero usful apps. Windows Phone 8 changes that, but te prime time of the platform is lost in late 2010.
