BBM for iOS was launched about a month ago, alongside BBM for Android. The app is a top 5 download for iOS users in 50 countries. Meanwhile, the Android variant of the app is top ten only in Indonesia, South Africa, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. A good example of this split is seen in Argentina, where BBM is the number one app in the App Store. On the Google Play Store, it is number 14...

Oh, I thought it was BB making their stupid secure email service available for non BB phones. I didn't think people actually used it for, well, non business crap.

Oh well. Now I know. Why would I use such a service when BB will be dead in about a year.

I think it is more to do with the average former BB user went Iphone over Android when they migrated from BB. Makes sense to me. In BB's heyday, it was more than a business phone, it was the phone to be. It was this even during the Iphone's initial year or 2, the 3GS is where the Iphone really started conquering.

i dont think its accurate.... popularity is not measured by 1st 2nd and 3rd..... because IF it takes a 100,000 download on ios to be in the top 5.... a 100,000 download on android wont get u no where near top 5.... basically if an app make it to top 5 on both ios and android chances are there are way more download on android than ios.... an app that is in the top 20 on android can have more downloads than a app in the top 5 on ios....

This is what happens when you news "source" is a site as atrocious as BGR. It's crazy how they still exist. Their "reporters" must be kindergartners. Why on earth is PA citing them? But, good catch on your part. This is a complete BS, worthless BRG typical article.

Why would people use this messenger because there are way better apps for the same purpose?

Unless they go holo and add an option of black theme, I ain't giving that a chance in my samoled phone. I'll instead stick to whatsapp+ and it's tons of customization.

The author makes an assumption that everyone knows what BBM is.
