BBC Weather app lands on Android

The BBC Weather application has just arrived on Android and it is one of the most precise weather apps for those living or visiting the United Kingdom. It of course targest first and foremost the UK, but can also work with international locations.

Design is clean and light, there is a widget and weather forecasting is accurate down to the hour (weather information is available for the next 48 hours).

Tapping on a weather reading shows details like the pressure, visibility and humidity. Neatly, you also get a day overview with sunrise and sunset times, UV and pollution information.

It’s also free on the Google Play store so it wouldn’t hurt trying it, would it?

Its got nothing on Accuweather. The BBC should of made this app years ago. There are too many alternatives for weather apps. Another sign that the BBC is way behind the times.......

Also, from past experience, most BBC made Apps are battery killers. Including iPlayer which just opens the browser version of iPlayer, making the App completely pointless and useless and just another thing to unnecessarily eat your battery.

try again, BBC.... I am in Twickenham, UK - and the android app says I am in Whitton, 5 miles away... :( well at least it does not think it's LA!!!

VERY basic settings, and the widget cannot communicate with the app, when you tell it 'Twickenham'... :(

Its a pity, the BBC weather website is the best....

Un-installed after 10 mins...

'Transparent Clock & weather' app + widget is much better, hundreds of settings to 'lock' town, short-cuts to set timers, appearance and customisation, moon phase, hi/lo temps, sys info, batt level, etc, etc... :)

Is the widget resizable? I don't need a weather widget to cover half the screen. I use The Weather Channel app and the widget can be resized to 1x3.

'Transparent Clock & weather' widget does just that on my S3...
