Aye, aye, iOS: Navy selects Apple iPad for work on PTSD

0. phoneArena 10 Mar 2013, 20:31 posted on

The Office of Naval Research along with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, are both working together on a new app that will help sailors and marines deal with PTSD and understand what is happening to their bodies with the use of biofeedback; next month, the app will be tested at the Naval Center for Combat and Operational Stress Control in San Diego...,

The Navy using Apple products for helping with PTSD...I think that is quite counterproductive. I know after dealing with an Apple product, I'd want to be counseled for PTSD.

(yes, that's a little cruel...but as a former soldier, I understand the seriousness of the subject. I also have a sense of humor, so lighten up.)

Your comment was highly offensive and uncalled for. There are some things I don't joke about, that one being included. No I will not lighten up.

What a surprise that you'd be the first to step all over my remark...I guess asking people like you to lighten up is like asking a brick wall to take a hike; it's not going to happen.

Now I guess I know how it feels, you and your ilk get flack for your constant pro-Apple and/or anti-Android comments, and I'm not invulnerable to criticism either. Though I think I do a better job not coming off as smug with my remarks...but that's just one guy's opinion.

Yes of failure ... a path which market decides. Appl bribing their way into US establishment isn;t ruled out ... didn't G D Searle's CEO then (u know Donald Rumsfeld?) push Aspartame through FDA using his clout ? Grow up instead of being Doped 24X7 ...

"With an advanced social order capable of making tools."

Agree, I even have read that apes can innovate, differently from some other primates. :)

Yes, indeed.. apes are very smart. If they can choose between the android & iOS, they will choose the android one. They know that iOS is just a boring icon launcher without widgets & fake multitasking. Unfortunately the zoo keepers only bring them the ipad. If they can speak human language, they will ask the zoo keepers: "bring me an android tablet and let me run ubuntu os in it and transfer music to my brain via NFC"

As I said its the best there is, the gold, and platinum standard, the king of the hill. Now run along, and be a good little droider and get lost.

not in Asia.. We, Asian people, know that the iPad & iPhone are just the overrated & overhyped products, nothing special. They are basically made in China hardware with apple logo on them. So the people who waste too much money to buy apple products actually don't buy the powerful hardwares, but they just buy the very overpriced Apple logo. We are not that stupid. We don't care about brands, we only care about performance to price ratio and features to price ratio. Android is the king here.

I feel sorry and pity to people who buy Apple products. They were robbed, but they are not aware. The cost to build an ipad/iphone itself could probably be just a 1/4 of the actual price.

Apple - arrogant money grabber

?...I like how everyone here is missing the point here, that this is about our soliders here that where trying to help, not some device that's better than the other..? It's a shame.

And what if we GENUINELY believe that a person is better off using an Android product than an Apple product to control his\her stress levels?

I owned an iPhone 4. I was a much much much more of an irritated and disturbed person before I sold it and bought the SGS3.

It's simple. Apple is tyranny, Android is freedom.

It really IS that simple.

This isn't just some stupid fanboy war here ala PS3 vs Xbox360 or Toyota Vs Honda or Verizon vs AT&T. It's a struggle in the consumer electronics industry over HOW will our future look - locked up and controlled or open and free.

The same gov't that spends a hundred dollars for a simple screwdriver is embracing the iPad? Makes perfect sense. Hey, on another note, I wonder how much Apple fans darrkkjedi, mxy and g-king get for every post they place on Phone arena?

I'm an iPad user and at work sometimes I use Evernote but during meetings, I prefer Beesy for iPad Note. It's a great tool for my everyday life at work, help to sort out and don't forget a thing on my differents projects. Very useful also in meeting with I can import, annotation and share my files with people. Take note and send minutes at the end of the meeting by mail very quickly and easily.

I discovered this tool on Trunk Evernote, so I think it's can be interesting.
