Your local Walmart store just might be the place where you end up finally picking up that 16GB Google Nexus 4, priced at $148 with a signed two year pact or $550 unlocked; if a phablet is more your speed, how about a white Samsung GALAXY Note II for $278 with a signed two year pact, also branded wth the T-Mobile name...

is 'unlimited' really unlimited? don't these stupid carriers cripple your speed when you reach a specific bandwidth cap? pardon my ignorance but i just want to make sure evrything will work as promised....

If you read the fine print, T-Mobile's "unlimited" data plan is actually throttled at something like 9,765GB. I dare someone to reach that in a month. So, no, technically, it's not unlimited, but I highly doubt anyone could even come close to that ceiling if they tried.

For a power user like me, 10 gigs in a month is really miniscule coz I plan to torrent while on the go...I consume an average of 250 to 300 gigs in one month...thx for shedding light

There is 1,024 MB in a GB so 9,765 GB is 9,999,360 MB.
If you assume 30 days in a month, that means 720 hours in a month, or 43,200 minutes or 2,592,000 seconds.
To reach the limit, your breakeven transfer rate is 9,999,360 MB divided by 2,592,000 or about 3.8578 MB per second.
The question is does T-Mobile suppot a sustain download speed of about 3.86 MB per second (or about 30.9 mbps).
If T-mobile cannot support that 3.86 MB per second transfer rate, than unlimited is correct, and it is not a technicality because it is unlimited based on current technolgies.

Yeah, I did the math myself earlier. It's impossible to reach that ceiling. Makes you wonder why it exists.

250GB in one month? Hope you are joking. I use my phone through out all day and it's almost impossible to go over 1GB. Do you stream Netflix in HD 24/7? What carrier allows you to use that much data in a month without getting throttled? Cant be Sprint since they are too damn slow to allow you to use that much data in a month.

Sam's Club currently has the Note II for $198.88. Currently isn't considered a 'sale', so it should be available for a fair amount of time.

Staples has the Note II for 249.99 for verizon, I know this one is for T-mobile but it is cheaper there haha.

I wouldn't let Walmart touch my plan ever again. They screwed up a bunch of stuff for me a few years ago. You might get stuff on the cheap, but because of it, you get some untrained chimpanzee who normally stocks shoes trying to activate your phone. No thanks.

Walmart wireless employee here:
Our system is difficult to master, however at MY store, only trained phone reps are allowed to even TOUCH contract phones... And even then we have a 15day return policy where we can call reps of those carriers and have everything fixed in minutes...
Also the galaxy s3 is on sale for all carriers In store for 98 dollars.
Original Samsung note is 49 dollars
And starting today(I think)
We have a special where if u activate a Samsung phone u get a 50dollar Walmart gift card
