Asus unveils the new PadFone Infinity, with Snapdragon 800 and pixel-binning camera

0. phoneArena 17 Sep 2013, 02:48 posted on

It wasn't long ago that Asus took the wraps off the PadFone Infinity and its station, and now we have the second version officially shown to the world, just as promised. The first one sports Snapdragon 600, but this time we have the true Snapdragon 800 powerhouse, plus a microSD slot and these are the main differences from the one announced early in the year...

2400 mah is a joke for 5 inch. Whoever buys this is an idiot.

1. 5 inch galaxy s4-2600mah
2. 5 inch sony z1-3000 mah
3. 5.2 inch lg g2--3050 mah

Asus loses.Asus update record also sucks.Full of bugs

He mad mad. Doesn't the pad itself have a battery? That's the whole point of this handset, so his rant is instantly obliterated.

It's not a pad, it's a "dock"... Distinct diff; being that the dock comes 2nd to the phone as far as use case is concerned.

And this is close to Q4 2013. There's nothing childish about batt capacity. No one takes a NEW sub 2500mAh device seriously these days...well except for iPhone users maybe...

iPhone users lap uo their crappy 1500mah and would probably try to tell you it outperforms a 3000mah one because its made by apple.

I agree with you. 2400mAh will not catch too much attention... having dock or not

Most of the time you won't be docked.. as it's a phone first and foremost. And as such.. 2400 for a 5" is weak. Same reason Z Ultra won't be that common. Because it's way too big as a PHONE.

4X brightness! Is it really capable of or just a gimmick?

Asus is a huge gimmick company.

Is it really that much better than the competitions motherboards? Not even close unless your comparing it to the cheapest piece of crap you can find.

Why do asus even bother with their crappy UI? It's basically stock Android but they made it look worse with terrible wallpapers, icons and a frankly awful app drawer. When do phone companies realise they suck at making UIs and just give us stock android?

No hate, I like Asus anyway :)

Well, when I tried the PadFone 2 a while back I actually think the UI was not bad... it was the closest to stock Android, so that alone has points over Smsung's and others... BUT I do agree that some icons are horrible... specially the Camera ones including the whole camera interface...

But on the other hand I absolutely love their Live Wallpaper, the one with the tree on the field that changes as the time of the day changes, and gives you the current weather animated....

Though, in my personal opinion, between manufacturers skin, I prefer Sony's custom... Not as overwhealming as Samsung's but still rich with similar features

Isn't the Pureview pixel-binning tech patented by Nokia?

Does anyone take this device seriously? At the price of the phone + dock you can get a high end phone with better specs and a nexus 7 or some other combination that gives you TWO fully functional devices.

I can't imagine this will sell at all. Especially with no prestige cachet. It's purely bounded in geek land, but the n5, z1, g2, n3 all outclass it in various ways. Should be epic fail.

Only way it would work if it was $50-100 more than a similar spec phone so you get a good value from the dock.

Say it ain't so, Asus, don't make me throw in the towel on this three times in a row for hoping it comes to T-Mobile in the US.

Why won't they put a freaking pentaband chip at least in it. I've been wanting to get one since the first but I'll only get EDGE with AT&T
