Asus ZenFone 2 launches in India as a Flipkart exclusive

As expected, the Asus ZenFone 2 version that includes 4GB of RAM has launched in India and is available exclusively from online retailer Flipkart. The device is priced at the equivalent of $316 USD for the 32GB model and $363 USD for the 64GB variant. As we showed you with a video yesterday, 4GB of RAM lets you multitask with ease even if you are switching back and forth among five graphic intensive games.

This version of the Asus ZenFone 2 is model number ZE551ML and features a 5.5-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 (FHD) resolution. That works out to a 401ppi pixel density. Powering the phone is the 64-bit quad-core 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 CPU. Handling graphics is the PowerVR G6430 GPU. We've already covered RAM and native storage options. Those requiring more memory can use the 64GB capacity microSD slot that the phone comes with.

The 13MP rear-facing camera on the ZenFone 2 has an aperture of f/2.0 which means that you should be able to snap decent pictures even under low-light conditions. It also has zero shutter lag and Asus says it has the "the world’s best HDR technology." The 5MP front-facing camera can be used for selfies and video chats. The front-facing camera also features a Beautification mode that is akin to touching up your selfies with digital make-up. The 3000mAh battery will go from 0% to 60% charged in 39 minutes, and Android 5.0 is pre-installed. The phone features 4G LTE/3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS connectivity.

Asus has really loaded up the ZenFone 2 with features including SnapView. This allows you to have separate personal and business accounts on the phone's UI.

Besides the high-end model with 4GB of RAM, Flipkart is also offering the Asus ZenFone 2 ZE550ML. The changes here include a lower resolution display at 720 x 1280 (still considered HD), a quad-core 1.8GHz Intel Atom Z3560 CPU and 2GB of RAM. This model is priced starting at the equivalent of $205 USD.
