Blackberry will probably release a GSM version to AT&T or T-Mobile or maybe both carriers sometime in the near future. It would mean more money in their pocket.

The questions says "Will you buy a storm". No wonder the country is down in the dump since most of us cant assess what is asked!

"No wonder the country is down in the dump since most of us cant assess what is asked!" Maybe you should learn to spell "access".

79. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 00:24

he wasnt saying access. He wants to use the word "assess".obviously you dont know what that is, yet alone what it means.

96. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 08:32

its an improper use of the word.. he using a plural grouping which would make it singular verb.... tard

And maybe you should learn to read.....it's not access it's assess as in assessment.

HEY I have Verizon and i am looking for a new phone for awhile now and the 2 that stand out for me is the Storm and the touch pro. Im not set on wither yet and i need to decide soon. So which one is better the pro comes with wifi and a keyboard( not a deal breaker for me) but the storm has the clicking feature, can someone try to persuade me in getting which one?

80. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 00:27

you seriously gonna buy a phone based on "CLICKING" , please, you sound as if a clicking phone is gonna improve your texting. Click or no click, you still need to see what your typing. the sound click i understand, so you at least know a letter was pressed. But clickin-clicking should decide your purchase. remember its an investment. dont invest on a click. foolish if you do.

123. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 18:45

its not just a sound. the entire screen moves like a big button.. so the "click" DOES help in texting accuracy. go and try one out at a local verizon store then come here nad comment. i swear its better than the commercials

I been wanting this phone hardcore for the past month or so. I finally got to play with a pre-production model today and it did not dissapoint. So yes, without a doubt 100% I am ordering mine the second it becomes available on vzw.com.

At the risk of opening myself up to a lot of tangential namecalling, I do intend to acquire the Storm come Friday (should my name be high enough on the list to do so). I am attempting this through GoWireless (reseller), as our local corporate store is, shall we say, lacking in the customer service department. Here's what I was told regarding the pricing, discounts, etc. VZW is "playing ATT ala iPhone" on this one... * $250-$50 MIR (rounding to nearest dollar) = $200 ($199 ads) IF you're opening up a new line or if you have a full $100 credit to throw at it (as it starts out at $350 - $50 MIR = $300 (not including taxes, etc.)). * VZW is adding a "mandatory bundle" (which I understand you can try to talk the corp stores out of), which adds a screen protector, "skin," and car charger (micro-USB?). This makes it +$50. * Data plan is $30 for email and unlimited data. I'm pretty sure the broad strokes there are correct, for what they're worth. As to WHY I'm looking to get this (for background), I picked-up the XV6800 (HTC Mogul) when it was first released. The h/w keyboard started double-entering some keys and requiring some hard presses for others, which forced me to get a s/w keyboard solution (to type w/thumbs). Not an elegant solution, and the 6.1 u/g seems to have introduced a pretty severe memory leak (well documented). I receive/send a SMS, the processor slows to a crawl, and sometimes the phone itself can't launch the s/w to answer a call, which was the last straw for me (as MS, VZW or SOMEONE, should have patched this thing). Arguably, it could well be my phone or some combination of s/w (though I've not dropped it or had anything installed since the OS u/g). Am hoping the Storm's s/w keyboard solution, being coded by RIM, won't conflict as I've found, and that NOT having a h/w keyboard will reduce the likelihood of issues therein. That it has tactile feedback. etc. wasn't a concern for me. I borrowed a friend's BB to mess with and I found myself (out of habit) pressing icons on the screen, so I knew not getting a touchscreen might not be a good thing for me (retarded, yes-- old habits die hard). Actually whittled down several choices and landed on the Storm before realizing it wasn't released, yet. Not a big fan of being an early adopter. Perhaps the greatest irony here is that I originally got a WM phone b/c it gave you more options (ie- not VZW's interface, which drives me insane). Why VZW? Well, the locations I work most frequently at have the best signal via VZW. Simple as that. Need a phone that works as a phone, allows for Outlook syncs, touchscreen and NOT WinMobile on the VZW network. That was my list. I ended-up here. Time will tell if it was a good or bad thing. For what it's all worth...

nice, but i would want other apps like vcast music with rhapsody. Wifi should be in it. I might get the Omnia cuz it has 5MP Camera, Wifi, and DivX/ XivD support. I need to compare the Storm and Omnia in person first before I am able to upgrade, which is December.

76. (unregistered) posted on 19 Nov 2008, 23:25

Engadget did a video review and the OS looks painfully slow compared to other BBs. I'm used to the quick OS on my 8830, I guess it's a Bold for me!

124. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 18:46

and there is already an update to fix that. all storms were updated by the in store techs this morning.. that problem is extinct

77. (unregistered) posted on 19 Nov 2008, 23:31

Im getting it 100% - Love the my Dare but this is just gonna blow it outta the water...Not thrilled about the 30 bucks extra a month but whatever - Whats this thing gonna cost retail?...I don't have an upgrade for another year and a half lol...not gonna wait that long

97. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 08:36

get on a 59.99 plan or higher for three months and you should be able to upgrade at 12 months...

91. (unregistered) posted on 20 Nov 2008, 07:12

I will be getting one on Friday at one of the Syracuse stores, have it reserved, so I have to go Friday, otherwise it's a hit or miss and I want to put it on just before my bill cycle ends, going to final cost me $99 after NE2 and rebate
