Are these AT&T micro-SIM cards meant for an LTE iPhone 5?
0. phoneArena 10 Feb 2012, 06:37 posted on
Thanks to an anonymous tipster, we now know that AT&T is getting a new batch of micro-SIM cards that will be LTE-capable. They are likely meant for the Nokia Lumia 900, but there is a slight chance of seeing them inside of an LTE iPhone 5...

i can already see the headlines when the i5 comes
''new innovative lte option its never been done before''

this changes everything again!
Because android had had high res screens, duelcore processors, and lte long before apple did!!!!!!!

The "Android had it first" argument is getting old. It's a given that Android is always going to have the latest and greatest hardware technology that pushes boundaries. At the same time, Android will also have all the issues that come along with bleeding edge technology, in this case with LTE, terrible battery life. It's not bad per say, but just because Android is first doesn't make it inherently better.

the argument will end when apple stops taking credit for everything.

Terrible battery life you say? Say that to my extended battery.

Wow... this headline is just great.. while there is presumably 10% for these "new" micro-sim cards to be for the iPhone 5 (or whatever it is supposed to be called) and around 90% for them to be for the Lumia 900, you must presume that they are for the iPhone? Really?

yea, I can think of another phone that uses Micro-sim cards, the NOKIA 710 WP7 PHONE. Seriously? its a little early in the year to get your hopes up for a i5 "sim card". WP7 phones are about to hit LTE and are already using Micro-sims. And there is no reason why android phones might not convert over. What a stupid rumor.

we just got those and they are to give the iphone 4/4s better connctivity... yes i work for att and know there not for a darn iphone 5. im holding one rite now lol!!!
7. dha_george (Posts: 54; Member since: 27 Jan 2010)
the pantech burst and element both are lte and they use a micro sim card so i am pretty sure that is why att is getting those sim cards
8. AndresJ (Posts: 48; Member since: 06 Feb 2012)
Why can't all sim cards be the same(size), it's stupid if you want to change phones you need to have different sim.
9. kcombs (Posts: 257; Member since: 15 Dec 2010)
um... all at&t SIM card's are LTE capable. if it has a "25" for the 9th and 10th digit, it is LTE capable. all this shows is they changed the color like they always do.

I was at ATT yesterday and I think the LG Nitro they had required a Micro. The guy at the counter was complaining because the customer was upgrading and had the normal SIM.

Possibly, but the Pantech Burst and the Element tablet both take the Micro SIM. (eventually you will probably see all LTE devices use a Micro SIM, hardware manufactures need all the space they can get).

the LG Nitro HD doesn't have an Micro SIM card that's a fact. The only phones that use a micro sim to date is the iPhone 4, 4S, Pantech Burst, Pantech Pocket. That's it.

I work for Radio Shack and we have had these for a few weeks. The new Pantech Burst uses them.

I'm an AT&T employee. Those micro sims have already been out for a long time. At least the last 3-4 months since the new 4G sims were released. Any new iPhones purchased as of last month already have these new micro sims pre installed. This is nothing new on AT&T's part.

Besides if the iPhone 5 boasts LTE it's going to be the end of this year before it's released. and that's an "IF". With the Foxconn factory problems I don't see this happening any time soon.

The new Sony Xperia Ion will sport the micro sim card.
22. Axtell (Posts: 1; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
2 existing LTE devices in AT&T's arsenal already take microsim cards: the pantech burst phone and element tablet. Suggesting that the arrival of these cards indicates the next iPhone will have LTE and that's the impetus for stores receiving them either indicates (a) ignorance of existing inventory, or (b) wild, baseless speculation meant to drive page views.
Either way, a piss poor attempt at 'journalism'.

I can see this LTE with Apple a huge problem. Remember when Apple , Microsoft and others got together against Google to win the pataints for sale? Apple only wanted the LTE pataints and I think they are going to wait to LTE phones hit the masses then start a whole new batch of suing.

i dont think he knows that atts iphone has 4g speeds... hspa+ which is 4g speeds so all the 4s's have that sim card ...tired of iphone non sense get a clue before u post a story.

Horrible article the lumia 900 has micro sim LTE and other devices as well. The assumption these are for the iPhone5 is just some horrible attempt to start a rumor. Save this for your blog.

Who cares ,Apple don't ...and Stills making all the Money despite what all you iPhone haters say .... Smell the roses :
Apple is the world’s largest company by market estimations, surpassing Exxon Mobil by nearly $60 billion, as the oil giant’s market value is around $401 billion.
Amazingly, Apple is now bigger than Microsoft and Google combined in market value, which alone is telling. Apple has a market cap of nearly $460 billion, while Microsoft ($258 billion) and Google ($199 billion) combine for around $457 billion.

You're right about Apple surpassing Exxon Mobil. Instead of innovatiing technology that's released, like for example the 4S. It was suppose to be the iPhone 5 with LTE. So they released a phone that was a year behind in technology and same screen size of 3.7". All their billions of dollars is being spent/wasted in court battles because they're losers and want to elimate all competition. They could use that many in building phones that are current in technology and fixing the issues with the Foxconn factories. I'm guessing you love Apple. Well, I'm wondering who died making your iPhone? You want to talk about Apple in this manner, but don't even see the bigger picture. Apple is nothing more than a Blood Diamond company. LOL @05blacksrt4 you forgot that not only having the most dropped calls, also the most OS crashes. There's a study done on that too. The problem surrounding Foxconn is going to hurt Apple's PR. You'll see.

True that apple may have surpassed google but at the same time what type of benefits do you get with a apple? Siri? Naw not really we have the google option that doesnt talk back or cuss out our child. But in all reality people hate on the iphone because of the fact one it is the phone with the MOST dropped calls out of any phone on the market. Secondly why spend 199.99 for a small screen, easily breakable 3g phone capable of 4g speeds non expandable memory when you can spend 199.99 for a LTE phone that you can expand the memory on and have a bigger screen? But again this article is full of fail!!!!
