Are these AT&T micro-SIM cards meant for an LTE iPhone 5?

0. phoneArena posted on 10 Feb 2012, 06:37

Thanks to an anonymous tipster, we now know that AT&T is getting a new batch of micro-SIM cards that will be LTE-capable. They are likely meant for the Nokia Lumia 900, but there is a slight chance of seeing them inside of an LTE iPhone 5...

i can already see the headlines when the i5 comes
''new innovative lte option its never been done before''

this changes everything again!
Because android had had high res screens, duelcore processors, and lte long before apple did!!!!!!!

The "Android had it first" argument is getting old. It's a given that Android is always going to have the latest and greatest hardware technology that pushes boundaries. At the same time, Android will also have all the issues that come along with bleeding edge technology, in this case with LTE, terrible battery life. It's not bad per say, but just because Android is first doesn't make it inherently better.

the argument will end when apple stops taking credit for everything.

Terrible battery life you say? Say that to my extended battery.

Wow... this headline is just great.. while there is presumably 10% for these "new" micro-sim cards to be for the iPhone 5 (or whatever it is supposed to be called) and around 90% for them to be for the Lumia 900, you must presume that they are for the iPhone? Really?

4. remixfa posted on 10 Feb 2012, 07:04 1

yea, I can think of another phone that uses Micro-sim cards, the NOKIA 710 WP7 PHONE. Seriously? its a little early in the year to get your hopes up for a i5 "sim card". WP7 phones are about to hit LTE and are already using Micro-sims. And there is no reason why android phones might not convert over. What a stupid rumor.

7. dha_george posted on 10 Feb 2012, 07:52 1

the pantech burst and element both are lte and they use a micro sim card so i am pretty sure that is why att is getting those sim cards

8. AndresJ posted on 10 Feb 2012, 08:10 3

Why can't all sim cards be the same(size), it's stupid if you want to change phones you need to have different sim.

9. kcombs posted on 10 Feb 2012, 08:22

um... all at&t SIM card's are LTE capable. if it has a "25" for the 9th and 10th digit, it is LTE capable. all this shows is they changed the color like they always do.

I was at ATT yesterday and I think the LG Nitro they had required a Micro. The guy at the counter was complaining because the customer was upgrading and had the normal SIM.

13. djg71087 posted on 10 Feb 2012, 10:28 1

Possibly, but the Pantech Burst and the Element tablet both take the Micro SIM. (eventually you will probably see all LTE devices use a Micro SIM, hardware manufactures need all the space they can get).

19. troybuilt posted on 10 Feb 2012, 11:22 2

the LG Nitro HD doesn't have an Micro SIM card that's a fact. The only phones that use a micro sim to date is the iPhone 4, 4S, Pantech Burst, Pantech Pocket. That's it.

Could be the iPad 3 too perhaps?

I work for Radio Shack and we have had these for a few weeks. The new Pantech Burst uses them.

I'm an AT&T employee. Those micro sims have already been out for a long time. At least the last 3-4 months since the new 4G sims were released. Any new iPhones purchased as of last month already have these new micro sims pre installed. This is nothing new on AT&T's part.
