Are Android Ice Cream Sandwich and Nexus Prime delayed due to an Apple patent dispute?

Now, here’s a possibility presented by Russian analyst Eldar Murtazin - Samsung and Google didn’t postpone their October 11th event because of Steve Jobs, but they rather did so because of the patent war with Apple
This is a discussion for a news. To read the whole news, click here

apple wouldn't dare sue android directly. if it loses, and it probably would, every other case it has is in jeopardy. If they tried, google would just pull out its fat new patent portfolio and counter sue them into stalemate or worse.
this is just another baseless rumor. They didnt get the whole way to a week before the big show and then go "oops", they would have known that months ago.

remixfa this is completely of topic, but if you haven't read this I thought you might like this. Check this out, I know you can appreciate this it has some great information:

Hey no problem, because of remixfa & Thump3rDX17 I have learned a lot on processors, also we are all into this stuff.
13. ledbetterp3 (Posts: 466; Member since: 31 Aug 2011)
Oh thats cool, yea its the processor that powers the phone, so the processor is pretty important and it's cool to look at this stuff and imagine what the future phones holding these processors will be like.
15. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 3755; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
That is what I am saying in the future your phone will be able to do everything, including making breakfast for you! lol
17. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
lol yes, thats good news. It SHOULD put it on par.. or at least close to on par with Exynos 4212. My only concern with Krait is that they are doing a total redesign to catch up to the power that samsung has simply by shrinking and mostly keeping the same design. Of course, that concern is also reason for applause, as we all know, I'm not a fan of the current snapdragon chipset line. It definately has its positives.
the A15 designs are where the real money is at. If you have a dual core now, that is definately the next minimum that you should wait for.
At least we know 2012 wont be a slow year between dual core 28nm processors, kal- el, and the move to A15 designs. Now we just need a more reliable benchmarking system! :)

Google > Apple
I laughed at the fat new patent portfolio part.
I wish that would happen. Apple digs it's own grave.

Count me in the highly suspicious of Murtazin's claim group. In the U.S., it is almost impossible to get a sales ban until there is a final ajudication, which hasn't happened in any of the recent patent lawsuits.
I think the reason for a re-scheduled release is to suck the oxygen away from the Nokia/SO7 release - look at the date and location of the two releases....

"You will have an announcement of the NexusPrime very shortly and will be seeing it in shops sooner than you think"
This was from Samsung UK today. Why people listen to these dumbass analyst is beyond me.

This coming from the village idiot. Recall how remixfa tried to prove someone wrong and quoted a website as a reference. However, remixfa failed to read what the website wrote, and in the process, remixfa embarassed himself again. What was worse was when remixfa's error(s) were pointed out to him, remixfa made the situation worse by digging a deeper hole and continued to exhibit a behavior of being a petty sore loser.
I really wish remixfa, the village idiot, would stop talking out of his ass! The funny part is how remixfa made it personal and now accuses the other party of that fact. Simply unbelievable.

i have to agree, not to mention how iOS 5 all of a sudden gets something like drop down notifications

i am starting to have enough of this eldar murtazin iKnow everything crap!
9. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 3755; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
I agree this is just some more National Enquirer type stuff. Just silly rumors, Apple would not dare mess with Google!
47. ardent1 (Posts: 1991; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
Oracle took on Google and guess what, Oracle won. That's not to mention how the Justice Department has taken on Google as well and Google disclosed it had to take a $500 million charge. Google is not exactly without sin like the Virgin Mary.
49. Sniggly (Posts: 6697; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Oracle hasn't won yet. That's still being dragged out, and Oracle has been less than honest about the use of the software in question. The former head of Sun Microsystems had a blog post where he PRAISED Google for using the Java code in question, and has since supported Google unequivocally. Oracle deleted that blog post, forgetting that things such as caches exist. If Sun had cared about the use of its code in Android beyond being happy that Java was still relevant then they would've taken Google to court long before Oracle bought them out.
53. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 3755; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
ardent1 you are so wrong, Google has not lost to Oracle. That is still ongoing. Also Google had an agreement with Sun first, then Sun was bought by Oracle & now Oracle has the beef with Google. So you are 100% wrong. No company is perfect, anyone knows that, but Apple would not dare hit up Google. You know what would happen to Apple if Google services where taken out of the iPhone? Let's just say it would not be good for Apple. People depend on Google services, not on Apple. Thus Androids #1 smartphone OS status!
8. ledbetterp3 (Posts: 466; Member since: 31 Aug 2011)
Damnit apple, stop playing with Samsung's devices! What other way are they identifying details such as "the angle at which the phone handle on the phone app is pictured".
11. maxican16 (Posts: 363; Member since: 29 Sep 2011)
Google, Samsung - reschedule the event here, in the US, and soon. Put this baseless rumor to bed.
That is all.
14. iWallE (Posts: 48; Member since: 10 Oct 2011)
I really hope Mr. Murtazin is wrong. I hope Apple concentrates on innovation rather than litigation. Judging by the news of their current sales it doesn't seem like they need any help from the courts.
Plus, it sounds logical that Google and Samsung wait until the initial 4S hype fades, so that they can create a new hype with ICS and Nexus Prime.
16. Mad Iguana (unregistered)
Although Eldar's accuracy has been questionable of late, he's been pretty close with Samsung ever since he "fell out" with Nokia. So I'd say there's a reasonable chance of this being accurate.
18. iApple (unregistered)
No way !!! Apple would never do that, they have always believed in motivating innovation and healthy competition.
20. taz89 (Posts: 2009; Member since: 03 May 2011)
all rumours as usual...journalist just looking for alternate reasons without any solid evidence lol
22. protozeloz (Posts: 5369; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
I personality doubt it. google could just have avoided using a release date and build up hype if they needed time to Work Things around and not waited for a final version before doing that
25. Synack (Posts: 659; Member since: 05 Jul 2011)
If this is true I'll be happy. Marketing tactics FTW. I can deal with waiting a week or 2 just to make sure more people get a Nexus than an iPhone.
23. THE_GAME5 (Posts: 35; Member since: 07 Oct 2011)
Holy s**t !!! earlier Jobs proved a pain in the a** for oher companies .......
now his ghost is stalking them......lol
27. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
on a side note, i think the picture for the article is hillarious. :) funnier than the actual movie.. lol
28. Rikkirik (unregistered)
Litigation, litigation and more litigation, that's the name of the game, and Google is losing it. Whether it be Microsoft, Oracle or Apple, it does not matter, sooner or later they will be suing the heck out of Google. Right now they are concentrating on Google's partners and Android, but it will only be a matter of time before they take on Goliath himself. And by the time it's over Android will be dead, close to death or the rivals (Microsoft, Oracle and Apple) will be earning more money with Android than Google ever will. A recent article also stated that if you want a secure Android you will have to pay up (licensing fee) to a company owned by Motorolla. These added costs, along with the current litigation cases will kill Android or beat it to near death.
29. Rikkirik (unregistered)
It's time Google really start to innovate and create unique patented technologies in the mobile field, instead of copy catting. Google needs to be really innovative to survive.
31. gallitoking (Posts: 4680; Member since: 17 May 2011)
like I said... Steve Jobs death was an excuse to delaye their rush phone... idiots.. you never think out side the box....
34. dacastrator (Posts: 232; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
hey gallito, why didnt google or anybody didnt sue apple because of the pull down notification? they copied it from android obviously..
44. gallitoking (Posts: 4680; Member since: 17 May 2011)
is simply because there is things you can take and some you copied.. notification is from Google not a certain manufacturer... and Google also does business with Apple...is not google or Android vs Apple...
36. taz89 (Posts: 2009; Member since: 03 May 2011)
@gallitoking lol out of all fanboys/girls apple fans should know better than too believe in rumours especially after all the rumours of a so call iphone 5 with redesign that never happened...now logically do you believe official statements by companies or a rumour by a nobody...if samsung and google were using steve jobs death to hide the fact that they are being sued for using apple patents i am more than certain apple would be all over this...please people use some common sense before actually believing in RUMORS
50. gallitoking (Posts: 4680; Member since: 17 May 2011)
and how do you know there are rumors?. we didnt know about the iphone5 rumors until the day of the announcement.. so until its has been proven..yes we believe all rumors.. you may never know...
39. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
wait.. were the idiots when you are trying to act like an UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR from a well known UNRELIABLE source is fact and making idiot comments based on it!?! lol
46. ardent1 (Posts: 1991; Member since: 16 Apr 2011)
Just like how remixfa, the village idoit, try an UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR that R&D expense is part of gross profit margins. The punchline here is how Apple's own SEC filings would have tipped off remixfa he probably smoking crack as usually.
Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!
41. Sniggly (Posts: 6697; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Considering that the point of Apple is to create a climate controlled box that you live, eat and sleep in, I'd say we do.
And Gallito, you would take the word of a well known unreliable rumor mill over a multi billion dollar corporation that had deep ties with Jobs and Apple.
48. gallitoking (Posts: 4680; Member since: 17 May 2011)
well whatever i believe, changes nothing... or did you guys lost any sleep over what I think..didnt think so....
52. readingthissh1t (Posts: 303; Member since: 20 Jul 2011)
I wonder who in the hell you're callin idiots. megatroll, go do us all a favor and choke
32. ivanko34 (Posts: 617; Member since: 04 Sep 2011)
apple will succeed to kill android
no doubt about that
then when my galaxy s2 becomes too old i will change for something else from htc or samsung but never microsoft or apple
35. TOdoubleD (Posts: 113; Member since: 28 Mar 2011)
They aren't doing a very good job with killing it, if that's the plan. Android has gained more market share recently, not the other way around. Android isn't going anywhere.
Why anyone would listen to anything that this or any other analyst have to say, is beyond me. This guy has no more information than anyone of you reading this article. He knew if he made this claim, that he'd get a lot of attention. These idiots would fade away if sites like PA, would stop promoting them.
33. dacastrator (Posts: 232; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
can someone tell me how to go to recovery mode or dfu mode on an iphone 3G? i cant access any 3rd party websites other than PA here at work.. thnx
37. SomeGuy (unregistered)
This rumor has no support to back it up. As far as I'm concerned this says, "Some Russian guy said something related to phones."
42. Tmachaveli (Posts: 425; Member since: 01 Apr 2011)
rumors don't you just love them.....remember the iphone"5"
51. gallitoking (Posts: 4680; Member since: 17 May 2011)
thank you.. you either love them or hate them..

here is an idea why isn't samsung suing apple for likeness of the samsung instinct and the iphone4 i mean with the screen off its like they took the body and except the 3 bottons .
