Archos isn't a name that usually comes up when talking about Android tablets, but the company does have a couple pretty nice options in the budget range with the Archos 80 G9 and 101 G9 (the 8" and 10.1" versions, respectively)...

I might be getting one of these tablets next week. I really like the optional 3G stick.

I bought the 8 inch model. Screen clarity was excellent. Stock honeycomb with the market which was good to see. The build quality was bad. Screen was bendable and it only has 512mb of ram so it was a little slow. Just a heads up.

I had the previous generation archos 101 tablet and while the clarity was great and it was able to run the market by side loading it on there, the screen felt cheap and sometimes you had to recalibrate the screen (didn't know you had to that with a capacitive screen). Also the device saw a slight speed hit if it was used for long periods of time but i haven't tried a G9 so i couldn't confirm what you have to say but it sounds like some of the same problems are there like you said.
Quantity vs. Quality
