The iPhone had only been out for a little over two years. Get your facts right. And it seems like you're a little but over generalizing. I'm actsually seeing a lot more kids with blackberrys and Android devices now, since they are getting much more cheaper.

The topic of this article is which smartphone uses more data, not who uses what smartphone more. I have used BB since before it had voice when the Skytel 2way pager and the Palm 7 where the only email push devices. I will always keep a BB because it has proved to be reliable and to be a workhorse. I have a great vantage point in having personally used each one of the operating systems and having personally used Nokia, Palm, RIM, LG, Motorola, HTC, Samsung, and Apple products as smartphones. So, my perspective is one of an objective observer who has used these devices and operating systems versus being a carrier loyalist. I remember meeting with a RIM Account manager right before iPhone launch and they swore that they would never go in the direction making a touchscreen device. Their rationale was the screen often needs replacing and it isn't durable. Sales and results often sway the pendulum. I know we often think our perspective is everyones reality.

i've read about 3 different articles that say verry different things. i don't think the data here is supported. i'm not iphone bashing at all nor am i supporting any other OS by saying so.

ah BTW, in the US, ATT could not support that much data usage on their network. from a technical standpoint, verizon and sprint have a superior footprint and bandwith capabilities. it just isn't possible. iphone claim... FAIL!
