You’ve probably already heard the big news - Apple will announce its new iPads at an event on October 22nd. The date is hardly a surprise for anyone following the Cupertino company as it has already set a precedent…

I will follow Nokia. Its their last event, I expect them to do something big. iPads on the other hand won't be surprising and a bit boring for my taste.

I'm really curious as to how the A7X stacks against Adreno 330 and Mali-T628.

The GPU in the 5S already scores roughly on par with the Adreno 330 and Mali-T628MP6. The GPU in the iPad 5 (probably the PowerVR G6630) will stomp everything.

I wouldn't say stomp, but probably will score a little higher as the T628 is a BEAST.

The T628 is definitely good, but it wasn't as big of a performer as I thought it was going to be when Samsung first announced the Exynos 5420, it gets beaten by the Adreno 330 in Egypt HD and T-Rex HD on GFXBench by a marginal amount.

The PowerVR G6430 (in the A7) already scores on par with the T628. The A7X will be a BIG jump from the A7, seeing as though the past 2 "X" chips Apple designed were twice as fast as their non-X siblings in GPU power, we can assume it will be the same this year. And, if it's double the power of the G6430, it will double off of the T628 as well.

I'm gonna be following Nokia too. I'm not a fan of Apple products or any device running Windows RT. Plus am interested in whatever 10"+ tablets they will be announcing.

Apple holds some responsibility on this duplicate event scheduling. Apple loves to take the oxygen out of the room. Companies can and should go after each other for market share. That is what competition is all about. However events scheduled in advance should be respected by all companies. A company should be allowed to have their day in the sun. Apple is scared of Nokia. Or they are just bad actors on the stage.

Apple had nothing to be scared of Nokia, but now that MS has bought Nokia, it would be stupid not to care about them.

Wrong. Nokia doesn't pose a threat to Apple. Handsets sold, market share and revenue all say otherwise.

...and easing off that way gives birth to complacency which can lead to a big blunder.

Just the point that Apple chose the same date as Nokia's event shows that they are bothered. They want to take away all the limelight.

iPad 4 announcement was at the same time last year if I recall, and it was stated in the article. So no, it isn't ironic they share the same date.

Maybe they should even laugh at Nokia's offerings! We know how that has worked out in the past. Every company better worry about every new device until it is a proven flop. Market share can change quickly these days.

Apple isn't allowed to ease off as long as Android is there.
