You laugh, but it's true. Android doesn't really have much of a lead in the US without the aid of prepaid carriers and cheap phones.

99 cents towers over the price of some Android phones which often go for a cent or less. ;)

Verizon has a free iPhone 4. Not sure if any other carriers do.

Why are we always forgetting that SGS3 was the top seller last year, while the pricing at $199 with 2 year contracts? iPhone 4 (99 cent) and 4S (99 dollars) were the only ones making remarkable sales during the holidays due the price drop cause by the release of iPhone 5.

I think it's normal for iOS to get a bump around this time. SGS3 hype died down, and people are waiting for the next best thing from Android manufacturers to drop. Android marketshare will most likely rise again when the devices gets on the market.

Of course. And, more importantly, every year Android grows more than iOS, because the little bump for iOS only lasts a few months.

Even with the supposed best launch ever of an iPhone, Android still remains the majority mobile OS even in the US.

Wasn't it Tim Cook who told Apple shareholders October that sales were down because everyone was waiting on the iPhone 5? I guess he didn't think the current iPhones were worth it.

The people who want an Android phone either bought a flagship last year when they came out (SGS3, largely) or are waiting for this year's flagship (SGS4, probably). Meanwhile, the people who wanted an iPhone waited for the iPhone 5 or the price drop for the 4 and 4S, and are now done buying iPhones until fall.

I know like that is easy , 100 phones vs one you can even put some wp there my preference lol and still , no one can handle apple , lets be honest ppl really think apple is going down just imagine , if blackberry had time to recreate bb10 being almost broke lol imagine apple how much time they have with 406 billings and yeah i love wp8 , I'm just realistic.

If you look at it properly it's not as simple as 1 phone vs 100 it doesn't really matter here.. Why well if you want ios you must get the iPhone which means all ios sales goes to apple where as with android or wp8 that's not the case as if you want android or wp8 you can pick a number or oems which is why it's hard for a single ios or wp8 oem to get a single phone to sell as much as an iPhone as unlike apple where it gets all ios sales, oems like HTC lg nokia etc don't get all android or wp8 sales.. Another way to look at us if there is 100 who want an ios device apple get all 100 customers where as say 100 people want wp8, Nokia might get 50 HTC might get 10 Samsung might get 10 customers etc... So even though people love to make this comparison it's not a apples to apples to comparison lol no pun intended

I totally agree with you.. Apple has easy sales due to less fragmentation and it's not as some people say like 100 vs 1.. Android OEMs are not friends, they also compete with each other.. If iPhone competes with 100 phones then galaxy s3 also competes with 100phones. The difference is that galaxy s3 has to compete more vigorously because it has to compete separately inside the android world too where iPhone does have to compete within the iOS environment..

Get off your sheep fanboy. Nobody said the iPhone or Apple isn't innovative. Since you lack common sense and basic math skills I'll break it down for you.

When a flagship phone gets released sales for that quarter tend to high then they slowly drop as better technology or phones follow. If you think for a second that the new phones coming out (s4, moto X, HTC one) won't turn the ship the other way you are living under the same denial rock as Alan.

And yes in another year the 5s will get released pushing up sales for the quarter and you will get excited and get another woodie when Alan tries spin the facts making it look like Apple is king.

I appreciate the iPhone, and I appreciate what Steve Jobs did to get the smartphone competition going. I really look forward to getting a HTC One though. So sexy, plus its front facing stereo speakers are exactly the innovation I'm looking for.

I think it could have to with the fact that Apple is an American company and probably some American think it's patriotic to buy an American device aka the iPhone even though pretty much everything in it is anything but American .
