Apple's event shows it has fallen into the Mac routine, where it may not be able to lead on all features or hardware, but will on focus on its core competencies, as well as unity, experience, and customer loyalty...

I think I'm going to replace my white 2009 Ford Ranger with the white 2011 model. They look completely identical but the new model has some new wires and thing-a-ma-jigs inside the hood. I can't wait to impress my friends and all the ladies when they see me pull it up in my driveway. WOO HOO!

Your analogy is a bit off. Rather than "new wires and thing-a-ma-jigs", a more apt analogy would be if it were a new engine with more horsepower and better fuel efficiency. Oh, and the Ford Ranger would have to cost no more than $600. Don't underestimate the difference between single and dual-core, especially with the software optimization that we know Apple does.

People think it's late for this phone and for a dual-core. The A5 dual-core cpu, according to tests,on the iPad 2 is 2 times faster than SGS2, and they upgraded it for power-eficiency. The camera is far better. Bigger images with much more detail, one more lens for more sharpness, filter for better color and white balance. Catches 73% more light than the 5 MP on the iPhone 4, and shoots 1080p. It´s a world phone with CDMA and GSM. Better antenna. And Siri which is amazing but only works with internet connection(Who has money for an iPhone has money for 3G,so it's not a problem). Either way, i was hoping for a new design. It doesn't have 4G but they doubled the download to 14.4 Mb/s so it's has fast as 4G.

"they doubled the download to 14.4 Mb/s so it's has fast as 4G"

Only if you stick with AT&T. Verizon and Sprint are stuck at 3G speeds.

did you miss the part where Sprint got wimax like 2 years ago, VZW has super fast LTE and Tmobile's HSPA+ goes up to 44mb/s??

the slowest = ATT.

No, I'm saying that without LTE or WiMax, the iPhone 4S is stuck at 3G speeds on Verizon and Sprint. Which is true.

Just saying the speed argument by Apple is moot for Verizon and Sprint. Only AT&T gets a speed increase. They conveniently left that part out of the presentation.

that's theoretical speeds.

Right, and the theoretical speed of EVDO Rev.A is 3.1 Mb/s. There wasn't much more they could squeeze out of EVDO. It's just incredibly disingenuous that Apple even had slides about connection speeds when they didn't apply to 2 out of 3 providers.

Faster processor, improved antennae, camera & display rez, 1080p video, better battery, iCloud auto syncing of pics, apps & vid, plus integrated Siri makes it quite tempting to upgrade to 4s but may just wait until June for the 5. Was hoping for bigger screen, at least 4".

There is no way Apple is releasing the iPhone 5 in June. You're more likely going to have to wait til next October for that one.

With the drop of their shares in the market yesterday after the big disapointment you don't think investors will be screaming for apple to release iphone 5 in june and go back to the previous game plan? sure more carriers are carrying Iphone globally now but if they arent going to mave as fast as previous versions they aren't really make as big a profit as they aimed for and maybe lose more, anyway I hope to see them bring out the Iphone5 ASAP more along the the way the rumors said it would be and with an apple game pad

Not changing the design isn't the same as not changing anything.

I'm pretty sure yann was just playing on Apple's tagline. At least they didn't get up there with the 4S and claim "this changes everything again" when what they really did was update to stay competitive.

Give Apple credit where due - they have a great product and have since 2008, but their days of "changing everything" are behind them when it comes to iPhone.

Apple is definitely the king of hyperbole in its marketing, but usually there is enough there to make consumers happy. I think that's the case with the 4S, but people are just extra disappointed because of the crazy rumors.

Apple is going to have to resort to a "I'm an Iphone, I'm an Android" type commercial. Apple continue to do what it does best, sell to consumers who are more interested in "lifestyle" devices rather than devices that are built to perform.

I would actually love to see that. Regardless of the actual content and logic of the arguments in the ads, I loved those ads. It would be interesting to see how Apple would characterize the "I'm an Android" guy.

I think that route would be kind of useless. With the "I'm a Mac" ads there were distinct optimizations being made to apple computers at the time that were strides ahead of the available windows platforms. They had facts that they could play with to promote an obviously superior peice of hardware.

With the iPhone on the other hand, there is nothing an iPhone can do that an equally yolked android (or sexy new WP7 device) cannot. They could not make a real statement about the iPhone's superiority without being completely non-truthful.

Alright guys! we have to admit I'm a vzw rep and no lie i abosolutely love my Blackberry Bold and just like My Thunderbolt. Yes i know iPhone4s its just a slight upgrade of what the iPhone4 was but the iPhone4 is a device i never see come back into my store other than to get accessories, or the customer to buy another one. Its a reliable device and by not offering much more than my Android does. Now reasons why i would not get an iPhone 4s? well just the 4g LTE really and the bigger screen and Apple will never the the turn by turn navigation. Reasons why i would get it? its going to offer me everything my current Android offers me with the difference i know it wont force-close apps all the time and it will provide a great batt life. The only reason my batt goes all day on my thunderbolt is because i have two phones and that scares me on thinking what if i only had the thunderbolt? i will be dead. So yes guys iPhone just catched up to Androids features and hardware and ofcourse Android will always be ahead on hardware and features the real question is which is going to operate well and be reliable? take it from someone that its in this world 6 days out of the week. I always see my Android come back with issues never seen an iPhone with an issue other than being customer created... BTW Droid Bionic is extremely Amazing!

LOL @vzw, if you are a rep and dont see iPhone issues, than either you dont work much or your customers know they are screwed and have to go to apple for their help.

I get at least 4 to 6 iPhones with all types of issues PER DAY in my AT&T stores.

So it took 16 months for an average camera update, a voice program that MOST people will not make use of other than for calls and text also its a BETA, (I mean really who wants to sit around in public talking to their phone like its their only friend?), and a dual core processor so you can play games on your TINY screen...Oh yeah, dont drop it, the back is still crappy shattering glass.

Way to go apple! You still have your pathetic sheep but the general public can now see what a joke you are.

PS: Way to copy BBM, Android, and Windows all in one software update!

PS: Please spell check your stuff..."Catched"? Youre a sale rep? Youre obviously underqualified to be giving out information to ANY customers with ideas like those.

Man you guys are deff getting the wrong point, and please have some respect towards someones comment. Its just a comment and a thought, or you want me type a damn comment in MLA format? You guys obviosuly dint notice i lean towards Android but like how Apple is reliable. Nexus Prime, Galaxy S II and Bionic phone that truly pass the New/Old iPhone4s. I dont mind Glitches because i know how to handle them. Also @Ubeingarep you do have to notice that every 10 smartphones sold in a VZW retail Location only 2 are iPhones thats why we dont get many back. AT&T has sold a ton of iPhones which is why you seem a lot of them come back. Sorry for not specifying my thoughts. I imagined we all are grown people here and could leave the fanboy thought a part and think smart.
