Apple won't be the big 2012 growth winner, despite iPhone 5, neither will Android

0. phoneArena 24 Aug 2012, 14:28 posted on

Digitimes has done some research and has put together some numbers for what the market share could look like by the end of the year. Surprisingly, despite the iPhone 5, Apple won't be the big winner of 2012, and, at least based on growth rate, neither will Android...

WP went from 0.2% to 1%. On the news: OMG Windows Phone sales grow by 500%!!!
Apple went from 34% to 35.5%. On the news. Apple loosing momentum.
Android goes from 58% to 59%: On the news Android grow not as strong as M$.
AHHHH! People will choose Android as primary choise (for obvious reasons), iSheeps will get their share, other fools will get WP! End of the story for 2012.

I think you are talking out of your A$$ right now.

Android is a very cool but fragmented and highly unstable platform.

Blackberry is in freefall because the old men running the company could not foresee the future because they are blind without their bifocals.

Fanboys only buy Apple because they are weak willed mindless sheep who prefer to be lead than to think for themselves

Windows Phone is a VERY viable option as Windows 8/WP8 will bring functionality that no other platform currently provides!

"WP8 has functionality which no other platform has" like treating every available wp7.5/7 device available like a POS... If it has anything else please let us know...

It will take 5 years for WP to come close to Blackberry so let alone Android an iOs.

What kind of new functionality are you referring to? What will microsoft bring to the table that could possibly make me leave Android?

Exactly. The article is about growth. Android wont ever see what they experienced in 2010. Apple is probably peaked, Android too.

Oooooh, I get it, it was like a joke or something! Ha! What wit...

Anyways, I'm sure whatever is launched in 2014/2015 will not be compatible with current WP hardware, as Microsoft seems to enjoy making a fresh start with their mobile iterations rather than make them upgrade-able, as of late. Also, I highly doubt that it will have less features than JB, but one can hope, I guess (although I don't know why one would wish ill on a mobile-OS, it seems kind of counter-competitive...)

and last thing it takes some years to creat apps from new OS and wp7 had only a year to comeout and it reached 100k apps and more in one year i think android took 2 years to reach it be realistic and resonable its not istant job of creating apps each apps takes weeks or months

Seriously how bad is the fragmentation on android, yeah they make cool little charts that show the different releases but what is the functional difference to the vast majority of customers? its negligible, the problem with windows phone is app selection... I can run temple run on any device running 2.1 or higher but I can't run it on a single windows phone device. I get that its just a game but is indicative of the problem with other utilities and apps.

Wait, weren't you the oracle that predicted mobile market share breakdown for the rest of 2012 in comment #8? Have you seen the rest of 2012? Are you in fact an oracle?

@remixfa

Thanks for telling that fanboy off. Now what do you plan to do about the 20 name calling Android fanboys to every 1 WP fanboy?
