Apple will be asking Judge Koh for tripling Samsung's fine to over $3 billion this Friday

0. phoneArena posted on 19 Sep 2012, 08:56

This is allowed if a "willful infringement" is found, and the judge can easily triple the damages awarded to Apple, although it is debatable whether she will do so...

Good luck with that. With the iPhone 5's disappointment, we can see crystal clear why Apple's doing this. iPhone 5 brings incremental changes, tech sites review it like its phenomenal and in the end, the usual, Apple's share rises, sales records break and iFans have one more year to be smug about a new shiny stone. Want 3 billion more Apple? What you gonna do with that? Because everyone knows its not going in R&D. If it did, we wouldn't have iPhones that can't do half the things Android can. Apple doesn't like to change things too much. People might not like that. Fine. BUT WHY STOP THOSE WHO DO? THOSE WHO ACTUALLY PROGRESS THE TECH SO THAT YOU CAN CATCH UP LATER?

lets face it, if apple get there way innovation will be dead and phones will come to a halt

if they cant be competitive then they should stop and move on. look at nokia they were top then went to nothing, they unveil 2 great phones and nothing more then a few murmurs......apple bring a phone reviewers say was what they expected in 2010 and they are praised ......... where's the logic

Obviously not everybody feels as though it was a disappointment they just sold 2 million in less than a day and it's not even out yet. I can only imaging what's going to happen when it's physically launched. Last time I checked people don't line up three days early just to get their hands on any other phone. Apple must be doing something right because they'll always have their loyal fan base including myself. They'll also pick off some others as well, you don't have your stock rise to a record breaking number of $700 a share if people feel as though you next biggest release of a product ever is a disappointment.

they get all that thanks to fancy marketing not ground breaking device. if you strip away apples fancy presentation and look at the iphone its a fancy app launcher with alot of restrictions for a high price. everyone knew it would sell, which reflects on the state of the mobile industry....a average phone been sold at a high end price.

apple's fanbase is mostly people who think there better then everyone because they have an iphone....basically douche's
sure not all are, thats generalising but those who wait in line need help

You're right about one thing, normal people DON'T line up that early for a fucking phone. Mindless iZombies DO.

@raphael007 what are you smoking they just sold 2 million preorders for the iPhone 5 and are probably about to sell also 10 million launch weekend if they can keep up with demand. That was the dumbest thing you could say they are not selling.

59. BREvenson posted on 19 Sep 2012, 10:55 3

Apple getting $1 billion is being way too generous, so $3 billion is just insane. Apple doesn't deserve anything because they didn't create anything. They are suing because someone created a device that looks similar to their device, which borrows elements from other devices and...it's just ridiculous.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Apple is not making any new friends by stifling the competition using litigation. It's not like Samsung is going to quit making phones anytime soon. The iPhone can sell 50 million in the first weekend, but it won't stop Samsung from trying to make better products...not like they need to try, anyway.

tim cook is definetely not the true succesor of Steve Jobs. why would all the apple fan boy are still talking about other competitors should get sued. LOOK AROUND APPLE FAN BOY, even steve wozniak, FOUNDER of apple hates patent war
