They are everyone’s enemy for suppressing innovation and consumer choice via the courts.

They fought with IBM decades ago, opposing a monopoly of the PC market, seen as the underdog they received support via open source in the IT community. However they have lost sight of their past and became the Goliath, oppressing consumer choice and user interaction.

They only offer one phone, one OS, everything else is candy wrapping to dazzle the masses. The hypnotic monotone ads have the undertones of wartime propaganda campaigns to rally the masses to believe it is good, it is your best interests.

Apple are now lagging in the field, with any luck they will release a new iPhone5 with a 4” screen that will bring them up to the 2010 industry standard for android midrange phones.

They need to revamp iOS and the Appstore but I believe it will be met with great resistance it will be a repeat of the “New Coke” campaign CocaCola had in 1985, but would Apple bend to consumer resistance and remain the same, provide support dual platforms for new and old iOS interface or will it be the end of them if they persevere with a radical change.

Your claims of Iphone bringing a change in mobile landscape is true....Prior to Iphone mobile technology was not optimized to its true potential like today......In a way Iphone sped up the things.....But ever since technology has taken huge strides and each quarter the user is presented with a mobile device better than the former....

But if you analyse an iphone most of its technological brilliance is still far behind the competition.....But apple need not care for that cause it anyways rakes in millions of dollar (actually billions) every year even without bringing much to the platter.....

Apple as a brand is too big to contain.....even for a giant like Google.....

Had a product like iphone been released even by Samsung it wouldn't have registered even half the sales figure of apple......Apple is not just a brand anymore...It has become a status symbol for many posh people...

But of late Android is fast becoming the status of technology........
Android is transforming the mobile world faster than windows changed the desktop experience....

Android opened the gates to all while apple kept is clientele closed......only those willing to shell out astronomical cash are allowed to join the apple club whereas android goes very easy on money.....

Though i perfecly agree with your comment but our world is hardly that balanced....The mud slinging is nasty.....(must see how people flare up at things as simple as net usage statistics).......but it is this divide that fuels the growth of technology.......

Though the world wars claimed many lives but most of technological breakthroughs happened in those two sad times.......

iPhone is far behind the competition? In which way? It has one of the best screens and cameras on the market. Great accessibility options for disabled, best on the market language support, dual core processors that's actually faster than other phones thanks to being optimized OS.

Apple before the iPhone was a fringe company with less than 5% of pc sales. iPhone due to being revolutionary and leap frogging the competition made Apple a house hold name and wildly successful.

Unfortunately, the Apple iPhone is indeed behind. Without a doubt, it's a marvolous device, but standards are higher these days. In 2007, a 3.5 was considered monsterous, but now it's kinda puiny. Now, I'm not dogging the iPhone because of it's screen size, it's truly a great device, no matter what people say. Hopefully Apple will treat us to something great this October, and I believe they will.
