Apple says Samsung set a patent timebomb when the 3G standard was created to demand "excessive" royalties
0. phoneArena posted on 26 Sep 2011, 09:27
Samsung is suing to stop the sales and marketing of Apple's gizmos, including the iPhone 5, in the Netherlands, but Apple argues it has sneaked in some of its own IP in the 3G standard, so it can patent it later and sue...

Yes, I am just skimming at this point.
Here is what I think is an actual valid new point:
Q: So if Samsung put in IP in to the 3GH standards as a time bomb, why is it blowing up now?
Q: Why is it not blowing up in the face of all the other manufacturers that MUST be infringing on Samsung's Patents [if Apple is] just by confirming to the 3G standards by using 3G technology?
Most likely Answer: Because Samsung most likely never had the intent to use those patents as a time bomb and is now whipping them out as a response to the pissing contest Apple started and is winning since it effectively achieved the banning of some Samsung products in some locations.
Samsung is not pissing on anyone else with this suit [as far as what was reported], so this is a direct response to the escalating war Apple started with Samsung. Since Apple is acting hypocritical, I do not even care if Apple has the legal right to achieve what they did. I just want them to fail to shut the fan boys up and get a piece of their own pie they have been shoving in other manufacturer’s faces.

You're right, the LG Prada looks nothing like the iPhone. It actually looks almost as different as the Galaxy S looks from the iPhone.
I've been following these lawsuits with a keen interest for quite some time now. I agree, it's not all Apple's fault; these companies are all after eachother, most of the time. The thing is, most companies are after another company for infringing a patent, or other minor things—and then there's another company, claiming the same about yet another company. The only difference is Apple: they are suing the most people over the most things (some reasonable, some outlandish). Over the time of my interest in persuing these matters, it's quite simple that Apple is unhealthy for the continental development, production, and implementation of certain technologies, designs, etc. (and no, you can't patent a shiny rectangle—get over yourselves).
That being sad, I have no problem with the iPhone. I think it's a spectacular device, and I suggest it to many of the people who ask for my advice. Personally, I own an Android device. As a technological enthusiast, the iPhone simply does not offer what I want. As well, they are updated outrageously slow. I prefer to be on the cutting-edge of phone technology. But nonetheless, Apple for sure makes one hell of a beautiful phone. Personally, I don't throw my phones against the wall though, so plastic is far superior—it's lightweight, and it's almost 2012; we don't need bulky phones anymore.
I saw Apple throw the first unreasonable stone here (the shiny rectangle looked too much like one of the other 487 shiny rectangles being sold? or what, the phone icon looked too much like a phone? maybe it was the horizontal app scrolling? or the, uh... s**t, that's all there really was), and somehow succeed, albeit minorly so far. Personally, I would love Apple to get exactly what they love to dish out to everyone else. Go get 'em, Samsung's lawyers.
P.S. This site has, without any doubt in mind, the most unintelligent iPhone vs Android wars I have ever seen. Put some thought into it, guys. From both sides (although, seriously, LOL @ the Apple fanboys).

fake 4g or lte-android had it ages ago
nfc-android had it ages ago
voice control-android had it ages ago

the phrase playing catchup is over used.. why... because ... Android ..moves soo fast that not even Android can catch up with Android.. most Android phones are still stuck in Froyo, and Android is about to released ICS... at that pace T- Bolts fans will never even taste ICS... so as you can see Android can catch with Android...

agree android is moving way too fast but apple is playing catchup none the less...you can also say apple is moving too slow but i do like the fact that they release 1 phone per year until they broke the cycle this year...i personally get a new phone every year the latest, never keep a phone longer than a year cause i get bored especially knowing there are better phones out there.i also dont like to have a phone that gets outdated too quickly which happens too often in android as you pointed out they are moving too fast even for more liking...but thankfully i got the gs2 back in april or may which has been the best phone in my opininon and is still one of the best...i guess with android is picking a phone that will last atleast a year where it doesnt get out dated spec wise.

Let's remind ourselves that Apple started these wars. Apple thinks it invented everything. The truth is that they just make things look jazzy.
The reality is that Apple has more to suffer from other people coming after Apple for Apple violations than Apple has to gain from them.
This is the future of Apple under the new CEO. A company mired in distracting lawsuits worldwide while innovation declines.
104. Jamez (unregistered) posted on 26 Sep 2011, 15:15 1 1
I don't even like Apple, but the amount of biased hatred on here is beyond nauseating.
It's especially amusing when clowns like Rawkin come out and spew nonsense with a "holier than thou" approach. Not sure what the point is, but you're not above anyone just because you can talk s--t on a forum. Frankly I don't even see why there's any incentive in putting on a Samsung jersey and cheering for your team. I'm fairly certain you don't work for them. Competition is good, and I'm happy they're squabbling over patents and other intellectual rubbish.
For the record, my comment earlier was a jab at darth8ball's ridiculously lame attempt to physically threaten taco50 through the internet. That kind of stuff is comedy gold...and I'm surprised that dorks still think it works after all these years. He obviously saw the sarcasm in it...not sure why you other dullards took it the other way.
110. Rawkin (unregistered) posted on 26 Sep 2011, 15:35 2 2
Amusing? I'll take that as a compliment. The amount of fanboyism is nauseating, but moreso than anything else, it's the uneducated comments. If you love Apple and want to bash Android—or if you love Android and want to bash Apple—that is fine by me, but why does no one here do so with facts? Intelligent fanboyism is a lot better, in my opinion, than "shUt tha f**k, you suckin'' Steve Jobs' d**k!" As well, I don't have a Samsung jersey—nor a Samsung product. But I will defend against a company (Apple) that is literally trying to stop competition. How competitive is a market where it's against the law to sell anything other than iPhones? Get real.
The fact that you were taking a jab at darth8ball—and therefore defending taco50's stance—is pathetic. Did you read that? Taco50 was obviously instigating that. Did you think darth8ball came out off the bat with, "come here, I'll kick your ass." f**k, why can't you people read? "Yeah, well I live in California, so come get me" is not comic gold. No, really. It's not... seriously. (Just wow.)
125. taco50 (banned) posted on 26 Sep 2011, 16:59 2 3
I have never threatened anyone on here. I live in California was in response to him saying he wanted to meet me in person and beat me up.
How do you support his position when he was 100% the instigator? Oh yea you're a droidbot.
178. Jamez (unregistered) posted on 26 Sep 2011, 23:28 1 0
Rawkin, maybe you forgot to put on your glasses. It only takes basic reading comprehension to see that darth8ball instigated the threats of physical violence....all because of a disagreement over phone preference. It really doesn't get any more lame than when someone tries to bully others through forums. Where I'm from, online threats are not only funny, but also the fastest way to assure that you've been defeated in a battle of wits.
In the meantime, I've lost track of who has sued who more. There seem to be almost a dozen different lawsuits going on in half a dozen different countries between these 2 giants. You act like Apple is the only party hurling litigation.

Ok my children, Stop fighting about which one is better between Samsung and Apple. I made those companies to make great products but not perfect products. Cuz no one is perfect except me (of course im a God). They both exist to fill up what each other is lacking. That's why iPhone will work better for someone and not on somebody else. Android can sh*t and Apple will come out of the ass. They are like combos if you know what I mean. So stop it. Coz its not getting any better.

Well, probably Samsung did have such patents long before this accusation took place, probably Samsung just bought the patent from Google and the huge amount of patents the got from Motorola, but either the reality the truth is that they are in their own right on using their weapons whenever they want. Apple did the same accusing Samsung of using similar designs on its flagships, but they did it until they started to notice that Samsung was getting stronger and stronger with their sells... Later they tried to ban Samsung's all Galaxy line from Europe, just to delay their sales at least until the iPhone 5 were ready to ship, because Apple knows the SII is way out of the league on hardware specifications in the iphone. Apple have also noticed that Samsung is hurrying the pace at such limit that the comming specifications in the iPhone 5 will look outdated in comparisson to new announced devices such as the SII HD, or the NOTE. Samsung knows that NOWADAYS Apple cannot compete in technology, innovation, an oppeness with Samsung, thereore, Apple sues. But Samsung, as any other person, company, or entity, will try to defend itself from the bothering kid that keeps disrupting its peace of mind... Therefore, they use their As under its sleeve, the 3G patent, that probably would not need to use if Apple would began to fight, despise the good commerce relationships these two giants used to have. Sorry for both and sorry for us, the customers, that will be limited with time to the kind of articles that patents, sues, and other legal terms not associated to technology and innovation, will dictate.
